Let's Get To It On This Monday, Shall We?

Chris Evans | 06:34 UK time, Monday, 16 August 2010

Today we declare it: National Don't Put It Off Any Longer Day. . .

Whether you do it today, or book to do it today! Just do it either way.

I'm gonna get my hair cut today, I'm booking to see the dentist today, I'm booking to have a full on MOT - blood pressure, cholesterol, probes, the lot - they can do what they like to me - it's time, folks.

I'm gonna go home, after this, and I'm gonna sling out a load of old clothes and tomorrow I'm gonna go and buy a couple of nice new shirts. I'm gonna join my local golf club. I'm back off the dairy today. I'm red meat only at weekends from today.

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, cats, dog, hamsters, guinea pigs, goldfish, hamsters and budgies - morning budgies...Today is the day in every way!

CLP - well done for your enthusiam

Today I am going to book a haircut (i'm beginning to look like a scarecrow again), organise my littles sisters birthday present and redo my CV - just in case!

Can I have some good wishes for mr bp? he had a job interview last Thursday for a great job which would make him feel better about himself and would mean we would see more of each other!

    Thanks

    Morning all

Can I just make a case for the procrastinators of this world? No.. Oh well - today is the beginning of the rest of your life so they say.

Baggy - good vibes being sent to mr bp as we speak. As you know I am a great beleiver in the power of the blog as it has worked very well for me over the last few weeks.

I am in danger of rambling a bit this morning as I am leaving in about 15 minutes to travel the 3 miles down the road to get to my new office (must remember to turn left not right at the end of the road).

I have no idea what sort of access I will have to lurk or blog so I may not be around until after 5. Play nicely folks.

can I ask a question for people who hva ebeen married a while??

This weekend is mine and hubby's forst wedding anniversary, so we are going away together.

Is it unrealistic to want (and maybe expect) people like our parents and close friends (like the best man/ bridesmaid) not only to remmeber it our first anniversay, but also to care? Every year for the last x amount of years I have bought my parents an anniversary card and present and I think they don't care now its my anniversary?

  • Comment number 9.

    Baggy,

My daughters have always remembered our anniversary and i've been married a long time.

I always send them anniversary cards.

Happy first anniversary to both of you.

Morning CLP - I'm not sure what I am going to do today - I'll take MTDs advice and procrastinate a bit! Loving your show this morning with Alex and Jason, will tune into the One show today, I have to say I didnt like the other 2 that all the fuss was about - and certainly wont be watching them on GMTV - I mean I would miss your show wouldnt I?

Baggy, I cant believe you have been married a year! That has come round so quick, enjoy your weekend X

Hi Chris: The one thing I could not put off doing this morning was coming back to work after a fortnight's holiday! Ooohh, very difficult leaving the house and not hearing the end of your show! I'm afraid I am a terrible procrastinator, but will try to do better with your inspiration!

Hi everyone else: hope all is well.

Debs: bless you, still on the sofa - you must be getting a little fed up, to say the least!

mtd: you have a new job! Well done - fantastic news!

Re: wedding anniversaries: my lovely mum always sent us a card and yes, she did care that we were still happy and content in our marriage. My sister always remembers our anniversary, and we also get a lovely card from our very own MwK! It's lovely to think that people do care.

Hope everyone has a good Monday ... I can't believe how slow this morning is - every day of the last two weeks went past in a flash!

    Hello!

Have made it back, if only briefly for now.

Move went well - eventually! Did have to have a few "moments" and threaten to throw my toys out of the pram but got there in the end. Think my poor Mum needs a holiday to recover from MY stress though!

Still no internet at home - how long does it take to flick a switch anyway - but can pop in briefly at work

No hope of catching up, did read through quickly so hoping everyone is ok or getting over anything not so good.

One thing I did see about V festival? My friend has had an access all areas pass and has been to V in Essex for at least the last 5 years but she has never seen a band there!! Confused?

    Laters peeps

    Baggy,
Totally agree with Bids. Dont get upset if no-one else remembers your anniversary. It is how you feel about each other that counts. We used to get a few cards each year but over the years that has been reduced to just two. No surprise really as we are just coming up on our 35th! I am amazed I still remember!! Good luck to Mr BP.

As for doing somethnin today CLP, I just did. I booked tickets for me and the boss to come and see you at the Cheltenham Literary Festival. Hopefully I will manage to get you to sign your new book so I have the set!

Have a great day all. I think it is good to be back from my travels.

    Good Morning CLP & Everyone.

Very wise to have a full MOT CLP, we should care for our bodies just as we do our cars. I never bothered and now I have to have the full annual treatment (needles into main arteries, etc.)

I'm still putting things off though, been delaying going to the dentist for as long as I possibly can.

Now and then I try to have a good clear out but most things end up going back again (just in case).

Debs: hiya! Not a lot to report re: my holiday. MrS and I had a "staycation" which actually was quite nice. I managed to clear out two wardrobes, five drawers, and cleaned the oven! Also, we did have a lovely couple of days weather-wise so we had a wee drive here and there. Funnily enough, we also found ourselves in the pub once or twice!

    Debs,
Had to go for a week in Philadelphia with work so drove to JFK on the Friday and met the boss off of the BA flight from Heathrow. Spent a long weekend in NYC and flew back on Wednesday. Would recommend the hotel in NYC. Park Central Hotel, opposite Carnegie hall on 7th ave. A few blocks from both Central Park and Times Square.
    Thunder

  • Comment number 22.

Thunder: your trip beats my oven-cleaning, hands down! Had a quick G**gle of your hotel - looks terrific. This will come as no surprise - I quite fancy the look of the hotel bar!

    C xx

  • Comment number 23.

    Chrissie,
Make sure you save your pennies. On the last night, becuase we were flying back early, we moved to a hotel at JFK. We went down to the bar for a drink and FOUR drinks (nothing special) cost us $56 (£35). Now that hotel I would NOT recommend. The International JFK which used to be a Holiday Inn I believe, has gone downhill rapidly and the management dont appear to care.

Had a very buy weekend and really did wish I could have stayed in bed longer this morning!

Sezza - congrats on new house, hope you will have many happy years there with the Sezza family.

Chrissie - hope you have managed to re-fill the wardrobes! Empty ones are not good! As for the pub - it has to be done even on a school night :)

Baggy - good vibes beingn sent! No comment on the anniversary issue though - having never been married.

Debs - good news indeed! Nothing worse than rushing the recovery process!

CSN - greetings, hope all is well with you and your family.

    Morning all.

    Ooops!

Been procrastinating so long, it's now afternoon!
The ironing pile has reached new heights, so I can't put it off any longer. If you don't hear from me again today you'd better send in the search and rescue dogs!

Baggy if your anniversary is this coming weekend, you still have 4 postal deliveries to come. As Bids and Thunder have said, it doesn't really matter so long as you both remember and are happy. I have never had cards from my brothers, although my sister, dad and brother-in-law(I suspect it is his wife) always remember, so I currently have 5 cards sat on my mantlepiece to commemorate my 35th anniversary last week!

Think I need to have some lunch now to build up my strength before tackling the mountain in the spare room, so off to procrastinate once more!

    Ta ta folks, Lin xx

    Hiya

Thanks for all the anniversary advice - its not that our parents don't know - we have mentioned we are going away - its the complete lack on interest and inconveince we are causing by going away and not doing a fmaily thing, one weekend in the year me and mr bp would like to spend with just each other and that seems to unrealsitic!

However my aunt and uncle have already given us a card, so I don't feel compltely unloved

  • Comment number 31.

    Debs #24,
You are joking of course. Her little eyes lit up when she saw how many shops there were not too far from the hotel and of course a trip to Macy's had to be squeezed in. Luckily there is a Starbucks in Macy's so she left me there! ;-)

    T

  • Comment number 32.

Baggy-they're probably thinking "Phew, thank goodness they're going away. Now we don't have to bother buying a card"

You know I'm only joking, Bids is right. You are very lucky to have each other in a world where relationships break down easily and the most important thing is what you feel about each other not just a piece of cardboard.

    Enjoy you're wedding anniversary together!

    Evening all

Baggy: on the anniversary front, I remember my parents, and my best mate's (I got to sign her away, and that I will never forget) but that's about it (but then I don't have any siblings married or otherwise). I may forget to post a card, but they always get a message, even if it's a text rather than a phone call. But as others have said, I'd say it's more important for the couple themselves to remember, after all, you made the vows, everyone else just came along to wish you well.

Seza and AS: glad the move went well, hope you get rid of the unpacking soon.

Regards getting on with the to do list I think I'm doing quite well today. After getting in from the grindstone (only 90mins overtime today), and before I sat down with some tea to read the blog, I've done some hand washing and pegged it out on the line, located the sleeping bag I'll need for the bank hol weekend and pegged it out on the line to air, made my tea. Now tea has been eaten perhaps I ought to get on with some other jobs...

I do like crossing things off my to do list, even if I do work better with short deadlines (like the pressie and card thing, both bought a while back and put in a safe place, I've been meaning to wrap the pressie and write the card for the past week). Your doing well tonight.

I make lists too, have to at my age. LOL!

    csn. xx

  • Comment number 55.

If I don't write it down it doesn't happen. Has always been the way. I can forget to take the list with me when I go to do the weekly shop, but if I've written it down I can generally remember most of the list, but if it wasn't on the list it hasn't got a hope!

Vitamins now ordered (there's another, less cheering, dint in my bank balance this week), and hand washing brought in to finish dripping over the bath, while the sleeping bag has been unpegged (before the wind pinched it again) and coaxed back into its bag. Wind seems to be trying to whip up a storm here, and it's looking awfully black and threatening.

Feeling quite pleased with my achievements tonight, just ought to clear the airer ready for loading up tomorrow morning as I doubt today's dry spell will last long enough for me to be able to risk hanging the overnight load out before heading off to the grindstone.

Isn't it odd how some days you feel you can do anything, and do, and other days you can't be bothered so don't?

    Evening All,

I do to-do lists and always use the cheat of adding a number of tasks that I know I can complete within seconds of finishing the list. It makes it seem all that more manageable.

Returning to work today, following a week off - I fear the list may prove too large for the A4 pad I have on front of me.

I'm afraid that I may have to put off joining my local golf club for the next few years - you enjoy yours Chris.

    Evening all,

Anyone know if the camping field fully booked for the show in cornwall? I would love to pop along with my campervan...... I am sure I could find a bed for CLP or Johnny Saunders! LOL

"Young Boys" is a fine name for a football team, providing they play in the U7s league.

It is, however, a pants name for a team of grown men playing in the Champions League.

Perhaps it loses something in translation.
