Don't Get It? Don't sweat it.

Chris Evans | 10:00 UK time, Monday, 6 September 2010

Last night I saw an 'I don't get it' film. I still enjoyed it immensely, it's just that I didn't get it. It was called My Life As A Dog. It was a Swedish film - subtitles on a Sunday night - listen to me.

Now I think it was a love story between the little boy and his mum; the little boy and his dog; and the little boy and his best mate - who turned out to be a little girl in disguise. Always handy, when you're a little boy !

But as I say, if I'm perfectly honest, I didn't get it. It took quirky to a whole new level and talked about the space dog Laika a lot, whilst using perspective to alleviate the woes, worries and misfortunes of most of the things that can happen to a person.

Maybe that was the point.

I'm off to think about it all a bit more.

That film sounds intriguing CLP - and a bit complicated.

I didn't really want to be first, as I'm more of a lurker and occasional guest, but I just wanted to update some of you who've been asking about my Mum. So, C & P from 'next door':

Good news - Mum's just phoned, and they're letting her out this morning. Her friend's going to pick her up, so I'll be making my way down to Dorset as soon as. Waving to KatyMac en route, of course! Thank you all so much for your continued good wishes - it means a lot to me. Hang on a mo - got something stuck in my eye....

Hope everybody has a good day.

Chris that filum sounds just to complex for a Sunday eve! Get a good rom com or action filum for next week!

As you all know I have been housebound and am now into week 8. So one thing I have been doing is catching up on filums I have not seen - recently enjoyable ones, In Bruges, Burn after Reading, Iron Man, Fabulous Four, The Duchess, Brideshead - I could go on

But heres the thing I have given up twice now on 7 pounds - I dont get it??? Should I persevere???

    Answers on a blog please!

    Hiya

Quick sneak home in the middle of the morning

I left my purse here but as they're decorating my office today so all my communication to the rest of the company has been cut off, no one will know anyway!

Ali - will be thinking of you lots, bet your trip will fly by. Do you think you'll have any chance to say hello while you're away?

My Zimbawean friend says you are going to a beautiful place and to make sure you get out of the city and see the surronding area as much as you can especially "Vicky" falls which are not too far away!

Very windy here, lots of little branches blowing off the trees - hope it's only the little ones

Now, where are some sticks to go with this bin bag - saw someone make a snazzy kite recently!

    Hello Again,

Just as well I sorted out my paperwork as I've realised that my car tax disc ran out on the 31st Aug! Guess where I'm off too - yup the Post Office.

Seza, I am taking a teeny tiny computer with me, so hopefully I will be able to logon occassionally and say "Hi". I am defo doing a trip to Victoria Falls which will also include a safari to Bostwana - how exciting is that.

Debs, I watched 7 pounds and have to confess that I didn't really get it. I thought I did, but then the more I thought about it the more I didn't! If you know what I mean xx

Deebee, Good news about your Mum xx

    Good Morning CLP & Everyone.

Cold & windy here in Wirral.

Chris-maybe the whole point of the story is that it's nothing more than real life. Unlike most scripts like, for example, Easatenders. We'd all be stark staring mad if we lived our lives like those characters!

    Hope everyone's OK

Good day everyone from a dry but very windy Ayrshire.

Jump judging yesterday at Turnberry Horse Trials - a long day, picked my friend Sheila up at 0830, drove 1 hour to Turnberry and got home at 8.30pm, but what a beautiful venue, where our fence was we were at the top of a hill overlooking the golf course, Ailsa Craig, Arran and even to Campbelltown when the visibility was good, very windy and quite cold but at least the rain stayed away.

This Sunday David and I are doing a sponsored bike ride from Glasgow to Edinburgh (51 miles), we have done it twice before but this year I have only been on my bike once (15 miles on Saturday), so I think I have left the training a tad late, oh well never mind, I will just need to get on with it.

Hope everyone else had a good weekend.

I think I must lead a very superficial existence - last night on TV I watched an old CSI and a Top Gear compilation!!

Mind you CLP, Mr CG has the same response as you did to CSI/Midsomer murders (other investigative dramas are available!) - he will watch the whole thing and then say "so - WHAT did they do then?"!! drives me mad!! so now I watch them when he's out or busy elsewhere!!

It has been lashing it down with rain ALL day so far - at least I have sorted out all my paperwork to drop in to the accountant as a result!

    Evening all

Bit grotty out there round here too. Still we were forecast rain at 5pm and it didn't arrive til some while after that (but still before I left the grindstone), so I reckon we're doing ok.

I have an urge to curl up with a DVD tonight after reading CLP's blog, but I suspect that idea will loose out to other things on my need to deal with before I can relax list. Have been daydreaming about finding time for a dunk in the bath the past few days, but other things have taken over (mostly grindstone shaped) to the point where I've been too tired to get in the bath and have simply gone to bed and zonked out. Perhaps I ought to crack on with the phone calls I need to make, so I can cross a few things off and get a step closer to the bath / book / DVD moment whatever it turns out to be.

    Hugs to anyone needing one

    Hi Folks

Have had a manic day at work also, but on the plus side, the kids going back doesn't seem to have affected by journey as much as I feared it might, as long as I leave by 7.10 at the latest!

Finlay is very unhappy, as he wants to continue digging in the garden, even more digging has occured today, and I'm not very happy!!

But, it's raining so hard now, so we have confined him to the inside, and you have never seen such a miserable looking dog in your life!

Deebee, sorry, I didn't pick up about your Mum, glad she's coming home, and hope you got there safely! Hugs for her!!

Well better check on tea, and try to avoid the Sweeney for a while longer :(

Well I still haven't made the bath or DVD bit, but the book (rather thick one that has been keeping me company for about 3 weeks now - unheard of in my world, but I'm winning: about 5cm down, 1cm to go) is beckoning, along with my bed. Phone calls; I gave up on after the first person in the chain I needed to talk to isn't back til Wednesday. Sometimes I wonder why I bother, job for Thursday now I guess :/

Seza: well done on braving Jazzercise :)

    Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawnin' all!

Apologeeeees for absinthe. Bin busy see!

So how the devil wears prada are we all on this not so fine blustery overcast morning? It looks like autumn is well and truly upon us and then some.

I had an impromptu afternoon off yesterday to wait for a plumber to fix a leaky sink in the kitchen. Job done. As is the ironing. And made a lovely WW moussaka for us tea which was delishus.

Also made the discovery of all discoveries in the shape of the Ch4 version of the iPlayer so played catch up with 3 episodes of Ugly Betty (that's why there's no lions yet, MTF - sorry!). One more to go and then I'll be up to date with the new series - wooo hooooo!

Talking of Ugly Betty - 2 weeks today my creative writing course starts. I'm dead 'cited!

And talking of 'cited .... THANK YOU Ms Love for the text re the launch of "you know who's" Booky Wook 2. I am now saving up my pocket money and shall be at the booksellers on said date with pennies in hand.

So, CLP - when's tome 2 of yours hitting the bookstands, and when are you doing a book tour as Nic and I want to come and see you, preferably in Brum as Cannock is somewhat devoid of quality bookstores (unless you count the charity shop on the corner but it's alwaya a tad musty and a bit Royston Vasey for my comfort zone .... )

Not sure what today holds in store at the Factory of Frivolity but I shall enveavour to dip in later with some form of banality!

    Onwards and indeed upwards.

    Morning all.

Just a very quick pop in from me to wish JTT a 'Happy Birthday.'

Holidays are over and its time to get on with stuff that has been pushed to one side.

    Its gotta be done!

    Wow, did it rain yesterday.

A bit brighter here today, but its got to that time of the year, when you dont hang around once you get out of the shower, brrrr!

Resisiting the urge to flip the heating switch as long as possible. I am certain that once it goes on, thats when the colds and coughs start.

Right then, off in search of cobwebs, dont think I'll have to look too far.

    Cheerio.

I've just been asked to prepare something which a) I know nothing about froma legal point of veiw, b) could be against employment law and C) if I do I will not finish the accounts and therefore run this risk of losing my job. SO I said no, and so I got shouted at and told to stop causing problems - I have to get out of this place where I have no respect and I'm treated with contempt.

Well this is the last day of my 18 days off, france was divine. Very possibly the best holiday I've ever had. The barn was amazing, the pool lush, the meadow huge and the kids loved it. we didn't really do much and spent a lot of time doing not much. Totally relaxed.
Have put a few pics on fb, I thouroughly recommend a holiday in french france to anyone now. Can't see me going to a resorty type beach holiday for a while. The Lot region is beautiful.
Oh and if you haven't read between the lines, I had a great holiday!!!!!!
