Saint Selina has come unto us...

Chris Evans | 10:16 UK time, Monday, 20 September 2010

...to confirm that I can now pass through this mortal coil called life, with only thanks for all I have been fortunate enough to experience.

Seriously, I had one of the best weekends of my life this weekend. The Goodwood Festival was the best its ever been. Every year as I understand it more and more, it becomes even more enjoyable.

This year the almost miraculous drifting Mk l Jag of The Williams family had me spellbound, whilst the Aston DB 1's and the Maserati 300 S's were a revelation.

Before we called it a day yesterday, Tash and I treated ourselves to a last hurrah bowl of pasta at our local Italian, and then this morning I wake up to the prospect of Andrew Flintoff, Kevin McCloud and Selina Scott.

Thank you God.

Afternoon, from a town called Dampsville. It has eventually stopped raining after a weekend of continuous stair rods.

Anyway, Happy birfdee to Scoobs and MCM , have a good one laydees.

Debs, glad you are on the way to recovery , what size shoe are you btw ???

Today is day one of having no bathroom , it was there this morning when i left, but it will be in skipsville when i get back tonight. No barf, bog or shower until Friday (fingers/legs crossed it goes well) So, we are nipping next door to spend pennies etc etc as they are away . I am petrified of locking myself out in the ensuing tiptoe between houses, clutching my soap on a rope and my shower gel. I am sure i will be at work in my nightie at least one day this week. .

Deevs ,Baggy, good luck in your job hunts xx.

    Happy Monday folks.

Right, I'm off to work, being chauffer driven again, as Puffball goes back to the garage to have done what should have been done last week.

Have a good afternoon everyone and keep looking skywards for those liitle housemartins and swallow. Before you know it, they will have packed their bags and headed south to warmer climes.

If any of our more northerly bloggers are still spotting them, can you let me know :)

    Multi cheerios.

Andy, not doing too much, physio said that the best part of not getting the physio I should have had 5 weeks ago is that the tendon is v strong now - thats part of the problem to be honest, lack of movement and why the stretching is so important. But thanks for your concern hun!

    Hi folks

I'm so glad some folk have returned!!

Sorry about the absence, been trying to get my new phone to work, and to get Mr JG to actually speak...failure for both...

So am off to brave the dark, and take Finlay for a walk...

Night all (hoping he will record Spooks)!

    JG x

  • Comment number 27.

    Hi CG,

Nope, no towels as yet, not going to use it, just going to polish it and admire it !! LOL.

JG, I went to get a phone upgrade yesterday, but was sooo tired i ended up leaving it, not sure if i want a slidey screen, or old fashioned buttons. Dont think i want the t'int either. Just text and call functions will do. Am a bit overloaded with technology. Might just go back to carrying a ten p around and using a public payphone. Or maybe a pigeon , that will also double up as a pet.

Dont ya just hate these dark nights, it feels like normal life ends at 6.45pm now. Take care .

Finlay has decided not to go...

I think he has been out all day, so CBA...I'm not arguing!!

  • Comment number 29.

I've fallen for the "must have the latest phone" trick from Mr JG, and knowing my aversion to all things appley, he knew what I'd come back with (the betterer one apparently)!!

Trouble is, apart from helping me get my sim card from one to the other, he hasn't helped much!

And, actually, I quite like my old one, so have stuck with it, on the pretence of waiting for the cover to arrive for the new one...but fear that won't wash for too long...!!

    JG x

  • Comment number 30.

JG, when i get an upgrade it usually sits in the box for a month or three, until i can build up the strength and temper reserves to deal with it.
    MC xx

  • Comment number 31.

I get very excited about my new phones!! but i am sure i never get to grips with half of the functions! i have had my existing one for 2 years and it is really getting a bit rattly cos i've dropped it on the floor so many times the back doesn't stay on properly!! Fancy one of those AEIOU-phones (if you see what i mean!) next time but will definitely need the most padded case ever if i am to keep it looking lovely!

and MC - I said the same when i had a new cooker - double oven, 8 gas rings - was I thrilled!! but now it is in definite need of some tlc and a good clean!! note to self - Must stop cooking!! LOL!

    CG xx

  • Comment number 32.

CG, 8 gas rings , blimey , thats some cooker . You need to have a word with Chrissie, she has found the ultimate oven cleaner !

MC - you be careful, dont want you falling in the hole where the loo used to be in the middle of the night!

JG - I am rubbish with phones too, only need the txt and call option - thats good enough for me! GD on the other hand......

Hope everyone has a good tuesday, hugs to those who are struggling with rubbish work situations at the moment.

    Morning all

So, another 9 hours of feeling like a spare part stretch ahead of me. Lots happened here yesterday: the "problem" I was having was asked to leave, and I was told that as of 5 October I will be working part-time hours. If I don't get out of here soon I am scared I will just walk but it's really, truly dragging me down and I don't know how much more I can take.

Phones. I upgraded mine back in August. Not a fruity one, despite my provider advertising that I could upgrade to that one "for free" they wanted something like £300 for it! It was only "free" if I agreed to a call package of £75/month or something ridiculous. So I now have the SongSam equivalent (it sounds like a bar of chocolate) and I love it. Theo nly problem I've had with it was the first time someone phoned me I didn't know how to answer it - it's the slidey motion I have since found out!

My evening class starts tonight, so for the next 10 weeks I shall be Creative Writing every Tuesday night, whilst Nic goes to the quiz to try and win without me ....... ;-)

(although in theory I could go straight to the quiz from college if I felt that way inclined).

Right. Time to paint on the smile and pretend I'm enjoying it.

    morning all

Got to work today, had breakfast, checked email, changed shoes, applied for some jobs - might have to do some work for a bit as well today ;-)

Actually now I know I'm going its much better, I'm not allowed to say I'm leaving but certain people in the states are being nicer to me and I don't care anymore, last night, for the first time in ages, I left my laptop at home ;-)

Deev - hugs to you, glad to hear your problem is sorted!

Phones - got the latest update to my old one, and its as slippy as anything, its been on the floor in pieces more times then anyother phone I have owned. I gave my old phone (and it was still worth a bob or two) to my hubby who was using my phone from 8 years ago! Dispite him saying he doesnt need a better phone etc is funny how quickly he has adapted to all the new features - hmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Anyway - getting a wriggle on as we speak

Baggy - whenever I get an interview via an Agency, I always take with me (bound and in a presentation file thingy) a copy of MY CV. The interview I had on Friday was thru an Agency, and they sent me a copy of "my" CV as submitted by them. To be honest, they hadn't exactly done me justice, and the interviewers were more than happy to have my CV, as written (and re-written several times!) by me.

    Good luck!

    Morning All,

'Never saw it as the start. Just a change of heart'

CLP - couldn't listen this morning as I had a 0700 meeting, not all bad though - it was on the 14th floor of a building in central London with views over the city and the sun rising behind it.
If only I could start every day like that.....alternatively - I'd quite happily start it with the foxiest string quartet since Basil Brush joined the LSO in my office....another pinch yourself moment was it?

Speaking of which - I've just caught up and noticed some of you adding your 'pinch yourself moments'.
Mine has to be the time that I was paying for fuel at the BP station on the M40, I finished the transaction, turned around and saw CLP who in the middle of a fairly crowded shop - shouted "alright Rips!"....I'm still dining out on that now.

Baggy - great to see you taking the big step, it will pay dividends in so many ways in the long term x

Deev - stick with it and keep looking. It's always easier to find work when you are in work - apparently. Good luck with the creative writing. Can't imagine where your inspiration will come from! x

Dreamy - I wasn't ignoring your non-invitation invitation to the rugby but I have to watch Wasps more than I'd like anyway thanks to my club's affiliation with them.
Nice to 'see' you though x

Finally - thankfully.......I've not been around much, but where's Chrissie?

    Take care

Right, bathroom update, usual routine all thrown out due to lack of facilities. Felt a bit daft letting myself into the neighbours house with my towel and toilet bag ! Found shampoo had leaked all in the bottom of toilet bag. Mastered the shower and got home to find i had left towel at neighbours. Well, at least i remembered to get dressed.
