Our old German Shepherd...

Chris Evans | 09:59 UK time, Thursday, 5 May 2011

...the great Enzo lll has a golf tournament named after him, The Enzo Trophy. We play for his ashes six times a year.

My wife and I take on my driver Marky Mark who teams up with our pal Matt, a beautiful swinger of the club who enjoyed impressive success as a junior national amateur champion.

Today is our first match of this year's series. The first day it has rained in a month. In fact I'm on the way to the course now, and it's pouring.

Still, it'll settle the tree pollen down so at least I'll be mucus free to talk to Hugh Laurie back on The Breakfast Show tomorrow.

Have a great one y'all.

    Morning all

Sorry, I've been a bit busy again....hence the disappearing act again.

CLP, my hayfever improved for about 4 days, and then something else must have started flowering, and I'm back to feeling snively again... Enjoy your golf!!

Thanks for remembering Bids, yes, today is my last day at this current job. It feels a bit strange really, but I spoke to my new boss last night, and it all sounds good from there...just trying to work out a starting date without making them think I'm trying to get the whole summer off!!

And I also gave out a whoop of delight when I paid my last 12p toll to get over that rickety bridge last night!! On the train today as we're all going out for a few drinks.

Baggy, glad the new job is going well

JG, have a good day today and enjoy your drinks!

    Hello CE & Everyone.

Every cloud has a silver lining Chris. Enjoy the golf and wear suitable rainproof gear.

I'm now becoming mucous free, part of my medication is mucous pills, 14 items altogether keeping me going. Really improving now, I actually know what I'm doing but must remember to continue pacing myself. I'm the type of person who always did things fast to get them out of the way,

    Somebody's calling me, gotta go!

Hi Chris: awww, I think that's lovely you have a tournament for Enzo - he was a wee sweetheart. Hope the four of you are having a great day's golf. xx I have the day off tomorrow and will be able to listen to Mr Laurie's entire contribution to the show!

Hi everyone, hope all is well.

Maddy: yes, please take it easy, and as you say, pace yourself.

mtd: nice to see you here last night. How lovely you have a holiday to look forward to. xx

Bids: I agree with what you were saying about having all that time off. It has made me a wee bit lazy too! Thank you for your lovely comment about my sister. Bless her, she is really finding things very difficult now. She's still at home, and we are doing all we can to make everything comfortable for her.

Keith: not long till opening night then! You'll have nailed it by then, I'm sure!

JG: hope your last day at this job goes well, and enjoy the drinkies!

    Keith, Break a leg!

Maddy, I echo just take it easy! You know you'll only put yourself back if you dotoo much

Deevs, early morning hula-ing? That's dedicated!

Bids, I was wondering where MTF was too. Did I see somewhere she was a bit poorly? Hope to see a fly-past soon

And Chrissie, if you find your motivation, can you see if mine is there too? Have now idea where it's gone.

Not raining here yet although it looks more likely than it has done for weeks
My garden desperating needs it but my hiking, sleeping out on Saturday night, son would rather it held off a few days!

Please give all my love to your sister, I am thinking of her and she is is so lucky to have a wonderful caring sister to help her, it will ease the situation and make her feel calm and peaceful.

    Lots of love to you.

Maddy: thank you for that lovely message. Me and my other sister are trying very hard to help all we can, but I must be truthful and say it is very difficult, and exhausting. But we are getting wonderful support from our family and friends, and my lovely blog friends, and it really does help. xx

Sezza: yep, all motivation gone! And it'll be the same next week, after yet another three-day week for me!

Good Day all, imagine that the suns shining and you won't get wet Chris! Water must be scarce. I watched a blackbird drink, from the tub of water I left out for the rabbit, this morning. I mowed the lawn, and the grass cuttings flew around in the air, as dry as dust. I think I will give the birds a tray of water of their own, although it was nice of Barbie to share hers. It's clouded over, so, maybe rain here too, soon, and no need to bother. The garden could do with a fresh fall.

    A Happy Listener. thanx

    Chris,

Golf backwards is flog, which rather sums up my attempts to play. I haven't played since my son was born (8 1/2 years ago!) but he keeps asking to play, so maybe sometime soon I can try and dislocate my shoulder!

    Hi all

Yes there is a chill in the air Sezza. Off out to vote soon, will need the cardi no doubt.

I have been wondering about Clodagh as well, I did hear a mention on Chris's show a few days ago though.

I'm afraid golf doesn't appeal to me either, who was it that said it was a good walk spoiled?

Evening CLP and the rest, from a slightly soggy Edinburgh. Hope the golfing exploits weren't too rain soaked!

Not blogged in a little while, but have been lurking. Hope everyone has got over the great return to work after the bank holidays. I enjoyed watching the Royal Wedding on tv, and then celebrating another wedding in the evening, as some friends got married that day in Dumfries, which was great fun. I bet they weren't ceilidh dancing to the theme from Dr Who in Buckingham Palace that night like we were!

Hope everyone is ok, MM glad to hear you are on the mend

    Good morning,

loving the show CLP, can hardly wait for one "huge lorry"!

I am up and at it nice and early this morning, I need to get out of work early to travel to London to attend the Army v Navy rugby at Twicenham. A few beers this weekend then......

Thanks for the comments regarding the play I am in, I only hope the beer this weekend does not wash all of the words I have learnt out of my brain. ;-)

    Keep smiling

    Morning troops!

Grey and overcast here in Cannockshire, but muggy warm too.

So relieved it's Friday - I've had a mare of a week at work for many reasons. I won't go into details on here, but suffice to say I am removing all fans from the office and shall be wearing my tin hat on Monday morning .....!

  • Comment number 26.

Annie - I didn't manage any hula hooping this morning but I did do the upstairs cleaning, so only the downstairs cleaning to do tomorrow.

  • Comment number 27.

And finally ...... Chris, thanks for playing James this morning. It really made my day (and Nic's too, I believe). We went and saw Tim Booth in Brum on Easter Sunday night (he has a new solo album out) and he was absolutely amazing. It was a small venue (a comedy club) and we got right down the front - at one pount Tim was looking me direct i the eyes and singing to me: kinda made my tummy go all funny to be honest! He's also (much to Nic's envy) sent me a personal message on Twitter - he's such a lovely man.

    More James for Breakfast!

    Toodle pip for now .....

    Morning Folks,

Very sunny and warm in North Kent - hooray. It should be a nice weekend as well, but unfortunately I've got to spend tomorrow in doors at a church Elders Away Day, deep joy....NOT!

Chris, I'd like to say thanks for playing Queen, how come I knew all the words? I was singing along lying in bed and even did the air guitar bit as well, what a sight that must have been...lol.

Thank goodness it's Friday, I do envy Chrissie with the day off :)

Oh well best get on. I'll be back later.

Thankyou, thankyou and thankyou again and again for the Hugh Laurie interview, and thankx Chris for making sure I knew it was happening. I'm sorry, I don't always listen to everything all the time. Although I don't like to miss a ting. He! he! great interview and fantastic to listen to, I had the biggest smile by the end of it. The best moment, was last on top tenuous, hearing his tea cup, clink, clunk down, in defiance, onto the saucer, and his exasperation and 'oh, come on!!!!!' lol. classic best moment for me. I have a late great aunt, so lovely, would like a tipple of brandy in her tea, god rest her soul, i loved her and really enjoyed the show. What a great start to the weekend. Wonderfull. Thank you xx
