Clear-out Time.

Chris Evans | 11:57 UK time, Wednesday, 24 August 2011

Or rather time clear-out. Pal of mine has just come back from his summer break declaring a personal revolution against himself. He's come up with all these things he wants to do that he has considered to be more worthy than what he's been up to of late.

"Have you done the maths?" I asked him. "What maths?" he replied.

"Have you written it all down, added up the amount of time it's all going to take you every week, and then seen if you still have time to actually eat and sleep, and do all the other things one has to do?"

He hadn't, so we did and it turned out he'd need at least two extra days a week to get even close to his new regime!

He's having a re-think. I'll let you know how it goes.

Peace and Love

    Hello CE & Everyone.

I should have a clear out Chris, both with doing more worthy things with my life and also getting rid of clutter.

But like you say I wouldn't have time to do the things I'm doing now. As for getting rid of the clutter now and then I try to but it all goes back again just in case of emergencies.

Hiya Chris: when I saw the title of your blog today, I thought you must have been reading my posts!! I would love to have a total clear-out of me, change a whole load of things, but I've tried it a few times and it just didn't work! That's not to say, though, that it wouldn't hurt to try again ...

    Chrissie.

I thought of you when I saw the title of Chris's blog today.

You're very brave, if I ever move house the biggest and hardest job would be getting rid of things I've kept over the years. I keep everything.

I did manage to throw out some old birthday cards not long ago after thinking to myself 'when am I ever going to sit down and read the old birthday cards?' But I felt so sad after doing so.

    PS Where is everyone today?

    Afternoon all.

Chrissie - how strange everything's all about clearing out at the moment. You see what you started?!!!!!!!!!

The good news is that I've now finished my 5,000 word assignment - hurrah!!!!!! What a relief that is, and it means I've now got two days of my holiday left just for myself ........ not sure what to do with the time, but I definitely won't be doing any clearing out!

The sun's shining at last so perhaps it's time for a walk.

    Take care all.

Hi Maddy: lovely to see you - there is no worse feeling on this blog than when you post something, and no-one else posts after you! Thank you for saying I am brave - I know this sounds pathetic, but that's how it feels! Still, we are getting there. MrS said this morning: I can really see the place "starting" to shape up. So nice of him to notice! But I know exactly what you mean - the feeling of sadness is awful, and if this was not imperative, I wouldn't be doing it!

    Hope you are ok.

Jillygoat: you sneaked in there, while I was typing my post. Very well done - you clever girl! Enjoy what's left of your holiday ... perhaps a glass of wine may be in order?

    Evening each and all!

I'm also going to be having a bit of a clear out over the weekend and next week. Moving my office from the "dining" room to the "spare" room upstairs - there is a lot of stuff that I so do not need to take up the stairs, so it will be shredder central for a few days and a few tip runs in between too - unlike Chrissie though it is not stuff of sentimental value - just stuff, so hopefully it will feel "cleansed" not sad.

right, last few bits to do before I can knock off - anyone fancy joining me in a cheeky midweek imbibe later?

    Evening all.

Chrissie, kitten was found wondering in the village last night by a lovely couple who have three cats of their own, they took it home with them for the night and would liked to have kept it, but luckily it is micro chipped and they had it scanned this morning and it is now back home safe and sound. Thank goodness.

I am still trying to do catch up from my holiday. Also had a dental appointment this afternoon, then had to take mad dog for her three month check up so that she could have a repeat prescription of antibiotics.

Hi Debs, would love to join you in a mid week sparkling. xx

    Hope everyone is ok.

Chrissie - a glass of shiraz is being consumed as I type this in celebration of everything!!!!! And I agree with Maddy, you really have been brave, but sometimes we need to make some space, both mentally and physically xx

Tomorrow will be cleaning and ironing but I've batch cooked several meals today, so that's the food taken care of. Ooh, this is far too organised for me - best have another glass of vino!

    Have a good evening everyone.

    Hello everyone.

Just wanted to say if you are all out there lurking and listen to Chris in the mornings, don't you think it would be nice to come in here and tell him how much you love his show, so that he would feel that his blog each day means a lot to us all.

    Rant over!

I agree. It's not so long ago that we were in a panic thinking that the blog might be coming to an end because Chris didn't give us a new one every day but now that he does where is everyone?

There's nowt so queer as folk!

My name is Rips and I love your blog CLP.
I hardly ever post but usually catch up at the weekends.
Who are all the nutters that keep posting?

    ;0)

On a serious note (haven't touched a drop) the weirdest thing happened today which made me think about how many hours I have in a week and what I do with them.

I received an email this morning from a Mum of an 8 year old boy I know.
It came from an email address I knew, but the writer wasn't the usual one.
The email went on to explain that this poor little boy's Dad had recently passed away and that we may or may not see him in September.
Now, the lady that sent the email is about as lovely a person as you should wish to meet. She spent the whole of last year offering to help with things we had going on and turned up for every event that came up, ready to muck in and do her bit.
Despite the huge workload she had in her day to day life (I'm avoiding details for obvious reasons, but take my word for it, she really put in the hours).

It was only when she mentioned in her email that she realised that her husband and I were known to each other through business that my dumb, stoopid brain put 2 + 2 together and worked out who he was.
The clues (and they were many) could only have been more obvious if they'd been read out to me on the radio. His son even looks like him!
Anyway, it turns out, that I'd known her husband (and his dad before that) for over 15 years!!!!
In that time, we'd worked, played and (surprise surprise) drunk together.
It was only in the last 2 years, while our businesses had grown apart, that we had done the same thing.
I'm not posting this for any sympathy.
I just read CLP's blog and between that and the email I received today, thought this.

If you've got a couple of minutes tomorrow.
Sit at your desk and think about who you would most like to see an 'out of the blue' email from.
If one particular name crops up, send them one.
It's a much nicer way for them to hear from you.

Who has typed this on his phone and hopes it makes sense.
If it doesn't, it's quite possible it's not the fault of the phone.

    Morning all

Perfect sense Rips, perfect sense. x x

Have come into work an hour early today to miss the closure of the road that would change my 10 minutes journey into a 45 minute marathon! I wouldn't mind but there is no sign of anyone about to resurface the road - only a confused looking man with a huge lorry full of chippings!! Who knows how long it will take me to get home!

Very busy this week but tomorrow we're off to Devon for the weekend so even more to do today but the reward of a weekend with friends will be worth it!
