Currently on my way to a charity golf game...

Chris Evans | 13:08 UK time, Tuesday, 23 August 2011

...ie. some people bid in an auction to play golf against me and a pal. Am currently trying to conjure up how we put it to them that sometimes even golf is not worth getting this wet for....and not only that, but there are some very hospitable local pubs in the area. They are particularly welcoming on such inclement afternoons as this.

Of course if they want to play, then we play. But if they do fancy a nice pub lunch and a pint instead, then I'll be more than happy to pick up this particular tab.

Will let you know the outcome, although if I were a betting a man - and I'm not - my money would be on the fact that we'll be yomping down the first fairway at Wentworth just before Two o'clock.

Peace and Love and Brollies.

    Rain you say Chris?

Send them down here for a round or two. Tis beautiful on the West Somerset coast today.

Mind you, the farmers have been combining throughout the night, so maybe they know something I dont?

    Chris,

I played golf for about 3 hours in lashing rain a few years back. Just get on with it man! ;-)
Rain forecast here for the next 4 days but none seen as yet (cue deluge!).
Happy Tuesday (unless you are Indian cricket fan, naturally!)

    Been raining all morning here.

I know what I'd opt for, and it ain't the golf! ;-)

But hey Christoff, you're not a million miles from me, and although we've had a diabolical morning, weatherwise, it looks as though it could be drying up a tad. So golf it is, I would imagine.

    Hi yal!
just a quick hello as I'm a busy bee as usual!

Would say "drat that work gets in the way" but I am so grateful to be in a good, steady job - WITH paid holidays after my perilous 5 years self employed that I wont. It feels like I'm on a downward roller coaster ride right now work wise you know the feeling "I'm off in 3 days time, how will I get it all done" type thing.....

Weather here is between MTF's blue sky and Chris's "shonky" (thanks Rips for reminding me!) so thats grey but dry, whatever you decide Chris - and I guess its decided by now - ENJOY!

Right you lovely lot, back at it I go - but for some of my friends on here - here is the news.....

The "Free the Bristol 1" campaign has worked - the little penguins are back! Huzzah!!!

    Happy Tuesday everyone

    Hello CE & Everyone.

A beautiful blue sky here on the Wirral peninsula!

Christoff, why on earth do you want to play golf in the pouring rain but then you musn't let down the bidders if they want to but I'm sure they will go for the nice pub lunch and a pint instead.

I know that I would choose a tea caddy over a tee caddy! (Sorry, I'll get my coat!)

I arranged the charity event this golf day was auctioned off at. I hope the weather improved and that you had a good day. Thank you so much for this - we really appreciate your support

Hi Chris: knowing golfers (and I know several of them!) you will be on the greens as I type! Hey Ho, you'll dry out ... in time! xx

MTF: oooh, sounds like it could be a bit of a challenge to be outside today in your neck of the woods!

Ali Orr: hope everything went well today. But if Chris Evans is involved, it is bound to have been absolutely terrific.

Maddy: I liked it, you don't need your coat!

    Debs: gotta love those penguins!

Annie: from the previous blog, yes, I am sure your son will have kept everything you gave him - precious stuff, he will know that. xx

mtd: sorry your quiz night was cancelled. I know you and Mr mtd love these! Re: vinyl - yes, I have some I just will not part with. Now, you tell me ... just how much is David Cassidy's first album "Cheshire" worth? Must be an utter fortune!

Susan: I quite like the idea of being a Tog! But, I'd rather be a Tog who had your handbags! Hope your move goes well ... if you need a shoulder to cry on, I am here for you! xx

CSN: hope you are getting used to the reading glasses.

    Hope everyone is ok today.

    Afternoon all

Chris, we had a picnic planned for today but the inclement weather insisted on an indoor gathering instead!

So, I've had a house full of friends, children, friend's children's friends and chat and laughs today! first person arrived at 11am and last left half an hour ago

Lovely day but am worn out again now

    Hope everyone's well this afternoon

It has dried up a bit here now but still very grey although that might just be the shadow being cast by my ironing pile!

    Evening each

Chris, saw the severe weather warning for London - hope it's wrong and those down south aren't flooded.

I'm out early in the morning so will be listening to see if you made it to the pub.

Back in a bit when I've caught up. xxxx

Debs, soooo glad the penguins are back. I have a theory: The man sitting behind you in the restaurant in Glasgow was very interested in our conversation - I believe he was the T***o wine buyer!!!!

Sezza, I only had 2 boys here for tea today and I need to hoover the crumbs and chocolate up - good luck to you.

Chrissie, I'll ask the vinyl expert (man in the cupboard - he has thousands) but I think he might laugh.

    Hello Annie.

    I am here.

Be thinking of you and how lovely for you to have five grandchildren. xx

I had a great day today, youngest daughter and her family visited us this morning and this afternoon we visited oldest daughter and her family.

CSN, I've warned them!! Enough - 2 each is more than enough. 5 grandsons and 1 granddaughter who will keep us all right - that is one 20 month old with an attitude. xxxxx

Right, definitely off now, have to be up at 6. See you all at the weekend. xxxxx

    Evening all,

Chistoff, a rainy day golfing is still better than a day in the office!

I will be battling against the elements tomorrow with any luck, ;-)

I am off to Ireland on Friday for the weekend with tickets in my pocket for the Ireland v England Rugby on Saturday, I have a feeling the weekend could get very messy......LOL

    Keep smiling

Weather improves, dramatically. I think a Bristol blog meet two years ago proved that.

    Morning all!

Thought I'd sneek in early before work, just wanted to wish Annie good luck with grandbaby #6's arrival

LOL to Chrissie - I thought it a bit random that David Cassady would be singing about Cheshire!

MTF - blimey nearly 2 years since the Bristol meet - where has THAT time gone! Happy days indeed - pink fizz, running over the bridge to get you, mojitos, stag parties, weebles wobbling, dodging marathon runners etc :-)

CSN & Sezza, sounds like you have enjoyed having your houses full of children - Sezza, definately leave the upstairs to the boys to sort out - you dont want to know what might be under their beds!

Right best get a wiggle on, happy hump day everyone

    Good morning all,
Not quite sure what the weather has in store for us down here today ,they have forecast good weather ,hope so .My last day today for this week ,but I wont be putting my feet up as we have family get together at the w/end.

Chris ,If I had the choice ,I'd like a nice long lunch with a nice bottle of red .But if I've got the right gear on I also do like to walk in the rain ,It's quite refreshing ,and It's good for the complexion.

Take care and have a good day ..

    Hi everyone:

Another grey day in Glasgow, unfortunately. But, not to worry!

Sezza: you are having a very busy time of it - but it sounds like a lot of fun!

Annie: re: man in the cupboard, I am sure he will verify my belief that I own a record that will add enormously to my pension! And, Annie: how lovely it will be for you to welcome grandchild No.6 xx

CSN: hope the wee kitten is found soon.

Keith: have a great time at the rugby. "Messy" weekends are such fun!

Debs: I know, what a No.1 hit DC would have had with "Cheshire is a word I use to describe ... a county in England"!

Bids: enjoy your few days off, and hope you have a lovely family get-together.

Hope everyone is ok - not a lot to report from me!

    C xx
