So, how was summer 2011 for you?

Chris Evans | 10:44 UK time, Wednesday, 31 August 2011

Don't know if you've heard, but Christmas starts tomorrow.

Well, it does, and it sort of doesn't. I think this is an emotional throwback from my schooldays, when the only light at the end of the "back to school" tunnel was half term, bonfire night and then what to ask Santa for.

September remains still very much a huge sea change in sentiment for me as a result. And I quite like it. I definitely think it's the most industrious time of the year. The entertainment business comes alive from now on in to Yuletide. In fact, I need to think about this year's team Xmas Bash.

We may even need a mini bash to discuss The Big Bash. Why am I suddenly getting excited? And why has the name Heston Blumenthal just entered my head?

I think I need a sugar fix, I'm feeling giddy as a gorilla on Gatorade.

Bye bye August, you were great, a little wet but nevertheless.

    Morning Chris,

I think by now that we should be used to wet and cold summers, so as this one goes it wasn't all bad.

I agree with MTF (lovely to see you by the way xx) there shall be no talk of Christmas until the 1st December. Dear Beez would have something to say about that!

Back to the question, that was asked at the top of the blog...

Thanks for asking Chris, a very lovely summer. Its not all about the weather is it!

Good luck Chrissie with moving day. I hope you are both very happy in your new home.

    Hello peeps!

Christoff, NO! You are banned from mentioning the ‘C’ word and indeed playing any jingles, as you did today, for at least another 3 months. You are allowed only to ‘think’ about it, as I agree certain things have to be organised in advance, but that is all, ok!?

More often than not our girls would return to school in their summer uniform for the whole of September, so it’s not over yet till the fat man sings!

Chrissie, wishing you lots of happiness in your new home and good luck with the move tomorrow xx Are you moving far, and will you be absent from t’internet for a while?

Bids, we took two of our grandchildren to the Kite Festival on Southsea sea front on Monday. What a great day out we had. Weather was lovely, the little ones even had a paddle. Did you go?

Sun’s got its hat on here, hope it lasts, daughter2 celebrates a ‘big’ birthday on Sunday and a BBQ is planned. God, I feel old – oh hang on, I am! lol

    afternoon peeps
I was driving in this morning when Chris mentioned the C word, and like so many of you my first reaction was Beez would have gone flippin ballistic! She really is still very much part of this blog and I miss her pithy comments. In fact I thought about her when I was ironing on Monday - that was one of her recurring subjects.

Late start today as had my 6-monthy diabetic check up. All OK, but I have put on 11lbs since my last weigh-in. I knew I had gained weight, clother feeling tighter, so I need to get my act together and shift it again!
Harder to do, I always feel, in the colder months - still soup today and I resisted the bread to dunk.

Understand Brad is finishing filming in Glasgow today - Chrissie, you haven't got space in your packing cases for him, have you? Good luck with the move.

    PS

MTF - what are you going to do with your glut of apples? Eaters? or pies/crumbles or what about making some cider/scrumpy? You could be self sufficient!

Drama meeting tonight to make sure we have enough lovies and back-stage prop humpers etc to stage our next production in November.
Then London tomorrow for a meeting and day off Friday to go to barnet-fixer to have the grey removed, pronto!

Have a fun filled next few days and I will catch up with you all at the weekend.
    ttfn, AGAIN!, Crumpy xx

    Hello CE & Everyone.

A little bit better here today on the weather front.

After having a sleepless night I feel as flat as the bounce back pillows I stored away, I'm hoping to bounce back some time today.

CLP-You're right, it'll soon be time for thinking about writing Xmas lists and getting the tree out.

    PS

Chrissie-good luck with the move, hope all goes well.

    Hello everyone.

    Dry and cloudy here today.

Chris, bit early to be thinking about Christmas. LOL!

    Afternoon one and all,

Merry Christmas everyone! ( Am I first? LOL Sorry Beez!)

Summer, not really had one have we? I must say that it has passed me by…….

This will be my Grandson’s George’s first Christmas, just magic, I had better pop out and have a look at train sets?

Chrissie, good luck with the move. xx

Apologies for the absence but I am having a tough time right now, every time I look for a positive in life another thing hits me even harder on the back of the head so I am keeping my head down, so to speak.

    Keep smiling

Christof - behave yourself. I havent had my main holiday yet and you are talking about Christmas.

I am seriously not looking forward to christmas this year, last year I spent it and new year in the sun enjoying hot weather and a few bits of tinsel but most of all family time. This year I am stuck here doing all the family bit without the sunshine and I am feeling bar humbug already.

Ali I am with you about loving my bed but when you have a husband like mine who likes to hoard it is a case of necessity otherwise I could disappear underneath the colour tellies, tools and bits of tat he likes to bring home on his travels.

Have a good one all of you lovely bloggers. CB xxx

hiya: Pen, thank you. We are just moving locally - closer to the train station, shops and dare I say it ... the pub!

Crumpy: I know how you feel, I have to admit my weight is creeping up too. I know what to do about it, it's just a case of implementing the rules! Re: Brad's movie (I call him Brad, after meeting him in the pub last week, in my dream!) what a day we had yesterday - helicopters dive-bombing all around the city centre taking the aerial shots. But "they" are dismantling everything today and Brad has now gone ... sigh!

Maddy and CSN: thank you both xx

Keith: thanks to you too - and I sorry to hear you are struggling at the moment. Life can be very tough, but you are a very positive person, so just hang in there. xx Re: George - a train set is a definite!

Well it looks like Christmas has officially started. The local paper has just dropped through my letterbox and all over the front and back pages, guess what? That's right! Christmas party venues!

Everything will now appear in the shops and Chris himself will be telling us all about half price goodies at a certain supermarket.

    MM xxx

PS Chrissie-that's good news not having to drive to the pub which means more celebrating.

Maddy: yes, "C" is on its way - I received two emails today saying "book early to avoid disappointment"! Re: driving to the pub, MrS is a stickler for not doing that, so we have always had a 15/20 minute walk - but now it is going to be about 3 minutes! Ooops!

CSN: oooh, yes long lunches, and then I won't have to make dinner!

    xx

  • Comment number 28.

Now, from someone that dislikes all this talk of 'you know what', this early. I have to confess to having already purchased tickets for the grandchildren, their mums and me, to go to the pantomime, purely because I wanted good seats, you understand! Cost me an arm and a leg, but as they say, you can't take it with you! lol

CSN, a slap is on its way!

Chrissie, with all the extra time you'll be able to get another one (or three) in!

Pen: true, very true! Yes, good idea to book the tickets early ... I never mess about when booking our tickets for Westlife each year!

Right, I am heading off to bubble-wrap land, to dream, perchance to have a nightmare!

Thanks for being so kind, and so patient, and I'll see you all next Tuesday ... oh, yes I will!

Bah humbug ..... one of the secretaries at work has just asked me what I thought about a particular venue for the office 'C' bash - aaaarrgh!!

Sezza - whereabouts in Devon were you? I've just come back from a weekend there myself. I got really excited when I saw Stonehenge come into view - I haven't been there since a school trip 40+ years ago!

Chrissie - good luck with the move. Don't forget to put the kettle and ALL the remote controls in a separate box! xx

Keith - big hugs to you {{{{hugs}}}} I really hope all will be well with you xx

It must be nearly time for back to school!! The boys have had just about enough of each other's company and when i went to buy an anniversary card for Mr Sezza, I had to fight past the christmas cards to get to them!

Honestly, I know I'm getting older but this is ridiculously early!

Good Morning To Everybody On This Most Momentous Morning Of The First Day Of The Month,

Christopher Evens, A most interesting blog above!

I fully agree we have had a somewhat trying summer! A trying summer!

When I write trying, I mean the sun 'trying' to show one's self but being most unsuccessful! Most unsuccessful!

What I do find most interesting, And what I did want to point out is I notice the weather where I am present this morning has indeed 'flipped' as Bingo Star writes previously on this blog!
Bingo Star I remember wrote about a most interesting weather pattern/ sequence that he has noticed in which the weather changes often on the first day of the month & this seems to set a president for the remainder of the month ahead!

Today a new month, and yes, yes, yes.... NEW weather has come with the new month!

Where I am presently I looking out of my most interesting window is, clear blue skies, not a cloud in sight, and BEST of all.... I can see the sun that has remained somewhat shy during August! Somewhat shy!

    Most interesting!

Good day to everybody..... good day to YOU!

  • Comment number 43.

No idea why that post got modded, can't face re writing it!
    Just wanted to send big hugs to Keith {{{hug}}}

Good luck Chrissie - hope you are listening right now to David Cassidy!

Keith, sorry to hear you are down in the dumps, keep on going buddy. And in addition to the train set - what about some lego....

To comment on "how was summer" CLP - phuft - what summer! Oh and you are going to be in more bother now with that "happy C word" jingle!!!!

Right time for a coffee and wheres that map....

    Happy thursty thursday everyone

    Morning,

The sun is shining here too - hurray :)

I've had a right busy morning already and that's on top of really struggling to get out of bed, but I do remember a lot of talk about Mr George Clooney. Now if Bobbie isn't interested then that leaves more of him for me a MM ;)

But I do have to take serious issue with Mr Evans, I am sure that he said to Bobbie that he had never seen the guy (George); but that isn't true because either on here on in one of his DM articles I remember him saying that they were in the same restuarant at least two nights running! So Mr Evans what do you have to say about that - eh???

Debs, Have a lovely day out - me jealous - never ;)

Bids, I hope your get up and go comes back xx

    Hi, MMM and FOM :)

Right this won't get the baby a new bonnet!
