It's Friday, thank The Lord...

Chris Evans | 13:36 UK time, Friday, 16 September 2011

...and we kicked it off with a full English for breakfast. Peter Kay on the 50p tax rate, the licence fee, not touring again for at least eight years, and his up and coming movie aspirations - oh and what he'd do to help heal the world.

If you didn't hear it, listen again, via our website or the ´óÏó´«Ã½ iPlayer. He only came on to plug his new book, but I thought we'd make the most of him.

As I drive to The One Show (Freddie Mercury's family, Fiona Bruce and Philip Glenister - guesting this eve), the sun is trying its darndest to come out and say hello. It's muggy though - I'd rather it be fresh and pouring down.

To the Dentist first, and then meetings, make up and finally eyes down for the main event. Should be fun.

If you're anywhere near Goodwood this weekend and see an overexcited pink face, that'll be me. Be sure to give us a wave.

Peace and Love you crazy cats.

    Aye up Chris!

Peter Kay knows what he's talking talking about.

I should go to the dentist but as it's not very urgent (no pain) I keep on putting it off.

Really looking forward to that One Show tonight CLP, it's a good line up.

    Enjoy Goodwood!

Ooooo Christoff, that's a good One Show line-up. Best I cloud plus Corrie!

We are very near Goodwood, but not visiting. From what I've seen of the forecast I don't think it's going to be as nice. Let's hope they're wrong. It wouldn't be the first time! Enjoy whatever the weather.

Hope all goes well at the dentist.

Evening all, alo alo alo wot ave we ere then???

It apears that my observations on Bingos photos are indeed correct! Most happy congratulations to you both, I bet you are over the moon and your mum is too!

    Huzzah!!!

Had a bit of a busy week to say the least, BUT did manage a nice "tea" with Daisy and MC oop norf on Tuesday, a nice "tea" in the new bar at Malwotsit oop norf on Wednesday and a "chippy" dinner (thats lunch) with one of THEM pies on Thursday.

Other than that work has kept me out of mischief and off t'internet so apols for absinthe.

Now the Kardy wotsits - they are a stupidly rich family in LA, with spoilt daughters -think the "Hiltons", who are famous for being stupidly rich. Their "careers" are opening a silly expensive boutique in NY, going to red carpet events and having a film crew follow them 24/7 for a cable channel for which they get paid handsomely.

There you go, now you all know - and just to set the record straight I only know as I have an 18yr old GD who watches it! (I have to admit though that sometimes I am drawn to sitting down and watching as I pass through the living room as I think "really"????)

Right, now its been a long, hard, concentraiting kind of week, so if you dont mind, I'll do the honours......

    I hearby declaire FNWC open!

Little Penguin, I'm coming to get you!

Missed most of the One Show but heard a good bit of the show this morning Chris. The wee boy in the bath singing KISSA.... always makes me smile on a Friday morning. Enjoy Goodwood, hope the sun shines for you.

Looked after 1yr old and 6yr old today. The 6yr old has always eaten everything in sight - fruit, vegetables etc.., but today he told me he's 'allergic' to chicken, gone right off fish, doesn't like any vegetables but carrots - still quite likes chocolate though.

kks: glad to see things are better for you.

Chrissie - have a lovely day with your sister, and no hiding in the boxes (the pair of you!) from the hubby!

Missed The One Show as cricket was on here. A good match and jolly well done England.

Loved what I heard of Peter Kay - sadly not enough as I have to be in at Cell Block H by 8.30 - but the Guy Garvey story was just the best.

Today I'm having my pre-holiday haircut, loading up the isplod for poolside delectation, and making an apple cake for afters (we're off to Nic's mums for tea).

If I'm around, I'll dip in for a paddle.

    Morning all!

Crazy Cats, Chris?! I probably won't mention that to Jasper-dog - particularly as he discovered yesterday what Honey (the cat from across the road) has done in his flower-border. He's not best pleased... ;-)

Enjoyed Peter Kay; he's always great. But what made me REALLY happy was the good news about Henry Winkler's OBE (Honorary) - he always seems such a lovely person. I remember seeing a piece about his work with schools on a magazine-programme (may have been an early One Show, but I'm not sure). He was filmed reading one of his stories in a school to an assembly of small kids and had them spellbound. You could see that the little kids thought that he was brilliant and he just took the time to address every single child. He's someone who REALLY deserves the accolade. Top man.

Have a fab weekend everyone - one day nearer to payday...!
    Keep smiling!

    Morning all,

Just been catching up since last Sunday so this is a long one!

Chris a wee catch up with you first,

Enjoyed listening to the show from Hyde Park and have hit the red button a couple of times since. Mr Barlow was fantastic.

Worry – I worry about having nothing to worry about, and I’ve paid the price for it over the years by making myself ill. I’m better than I used to be but I think I’ll always be a worrier.

Pies – my sisters do a mean steakpie.

Chris I wish I was going to Goodwood with you. Can just see you in your goggles and silk scarf xx And I agree re the weather – stunning day here too (well it was on the day you posted this blog).

Yes, thank crunchie for Friday’s. Hope everything went well at the Dentist. Loved Peter Kay – I waited in my car until I heard the Fall Guy – brilliant.
Peace and love to you too Christoph xx

Great One Show last night Chris.

Now to catch up with our lovely bloggers.

Bids – Thanks for asking about my eyes. They are fantastic, so glad I had it done. Thank you for your lovely thoughts about my friends husband.

Thanks also to KK, Oz, Chrissie, Ali, Scoobs and CsN sorry if there is anyone I have missed.

KK – my thoughts are with your great aunt. I’m really sorry to hear you have been feeling down. I hope the black cloud has moved on xx
Just read your post from yesterday so pleased you’re feeling better xx

Annie – I was thinking about you having to go over that bridge. I hope your brothers friend’s operation goes well.

Hiya Boleyngirl – best of luck to your daughters. And best wishes to your poorly mum xx

Chrissie – can I send you some names for your list? Have a lovely time with your sister today xx

Maddy – Did the cats get the spider? Hope you got your heating sorted and all went well with your hospital appointment. Just read your update glad all is okay. And you’ve found the spider - oh no it’s gone again! Not sure about the boiler update – I would keep an eye on that and get them back in pronto if it happens again.

Andy – sending you a belated happy birthday xx

Gingembre – well done on your achievements. Congratulations on getting a place at the London marathon.

AliB – Enjoyed the wedding tale – pleased it all went well.

Ali, thank you so much for sharing the link with the fantastic news Miranda is covering for Chris while he is on holiday.

I agree re CT – wouldn’t do for us all to be the same would it?

CsN – sorry to hear the news about your friend, so so tragic xxxx

Scoobs – Flat is looking good thanks still a few things to get/replace but I’m pleased with the results so far. Yes, still loving my car. How about you?
What a star you are making all those cup cakes –enjoy the party.

Pen – have a great time with your granddaughter, your secret is safe with me! I too am very guilty of thoroughly spoiling my nieces and nephews.

Such tragic news about the miners – my thoughts are with their families.

PJ – have a lovely holiday. Hope the weather stays dry for you.

Loli – hi, pleased you had a lovely holiday. Aww congratulations on your news. Congratulations also to your daughter and her husband.

I am just at the posts where you are having problems posting – if this one doesn’t post when I’m done there will be tears!!!

Hi Seeza, I’ve been enjoying Moira’s Jazz ladies too.

I really wish I could knit too. My lovely Mum was a fantastic knitter but sadly I didn’t inherit her skills for knitting or sewing, or maybe I just wasn’t patient enough to learn.

Bingo – Congratulations on your engagement. I wish you both the very best of love, luck and happiness. She is a lucky lady xx

Dozy – re: Kardashians. They are famous off the back of their father who was O J Simpson’s attorney and their step-father is Olympic Champion Bruce Jenner. As Debs says they are stupidly rich having cashed in on this big time!

Debs – glad you had a safe trip to the north and got to meet up with the lovely MC and Daisy.

Annie –The 6 year old has set you a real challenge.

Roo – agree re Henry Winkler’s honorary OBE. The work he does is tremendous.

One day nearer to payday…..love it.

It’s taken me a while but I’ve really enjoyed catching up on the week.

Annie, yes I am a brand new pristine cant wait granny to be. My husband has 3 beautiful grandchildren in Scotland but unfortunately as we are in the South of England we don‘t see them that often, and obviously it is not the same as when it is your own daughter that is having the baby.

I always need an after holiday hair cut. I just scrunch it up everyday in a band and don’t have to worry about it ( I am never my most attractive on holiday I must say typically English , sweating like a pig, red faced, factored up, hat and glasses etc). So the hairdressers is where I have been this morning, of course I have come back and re styled it but that is part of the course with hairdressers isn’t it.!

    Have a good weekend everyone.

    Afternoon all

Seems this week/weekend is haircut time for us all, I've just had an appointment with yet another new (to me at least) hairdresser. For some reason I seem to get 2 or 3 cuts and then they move on/get pregnant/vanish off the face of the hair dressing world. Still, so far I'm liking the cut (and the fact she took me at my word about not bothering to style it before I left even though I wasn't going straight home), the real test will be tomorrow when I've washed it myself!

I made that classic mistake of venturing into town when done with the mop control and eye appointments... I think it's safe to state my bank balance looks a little less healthy now than it did a mere 5 hours ago. Still, on the upside, I won't run out of printer ink in a hurry and have a couple more pairs of trousers that fit (after killing 3 pairs a month or so back in the space of 10 days), another cushion for the mish-mash of such things on my sofa (for a bargainous £3) and a frame for a print I bought a while back (assuming this one fits, the last one I bought didn't!)...

Hugs to all in need of one

Hi Debs, yes I forgot the heat rash and of course the permanent heat exhaustion !

I will be called Nanny and Mr Loli will be Granddad but up North where he comes from (Scotland) he is called Papa which sounds very posh to me!

Penny I should have had a wet cut I will remember that next time, especially as I asked her to cut it into a style where I do not need to use straighteners and what did she do after she dried it ...yes used the straighteners!

Pen, Bids, Annie – thanks for your congratulations xx He is a wee smasher (of course) have a great photo of him and his Papa (my brother) will put it on FB later.

Re: Hairdressers – I am very lucky to have found a marvellous hairdresser – I’ve followed him around over the years and now he has his own salon so less chance of him disappearing. He has always done my hair exactly as I’ve asked, never uses any products unless I ask him too and doesn’t come near me with straighteners lol I can honestly say I’ve never had to re-style my hair when I leave his salon.

Bids you have a good day too, don’t overdo it on the chores xx

Seeza – I agree re XFactor – the producers are just as much to blame and family/friends because they think that’s what we want to see.

Morning CsN – thanks for your congratulations.

    Have a good day folks!

Good morning it is a lovely sunny day here and I need to make the most of it as it is back to the grindstone tomorrow. My washing is now all up to date although there was a bit of a disaster with my white linen clothes a rogue scarf has turned it all blue/grey. I have put it all back on a boil wash and it is still the same. I have tried to convince mr loli that his white linen shirt looks much nicer now it co ordinates better with this trousers... Ha...who I am I trying to kid!

Annie oh how funny yes having little secrets from their parents cant wait.

I am going to start a baby secret box, some people may think I am stark raving bonkers but I am in the process of doing a letter to my unborn grandchild with my thoughts and hopes for its future.... I dont know about my daughters hormones but I think mine are all over the place... ha ha!
    Have a lovely day everyone.

Morning all - grey and wet here today, hoping for some sun later, but for now the heating has been on!

Loli, that is so cute writing a letter. I did a similar thing AFTER I had the GD - who was a nightmare for her first 6 months of her life (raging colic 18 hours a day....) - it was more around "deb if you ever think of getting pregnant again - read this!" LOL

Mary, cant wait for Downton Abbey later today - love it,

Bids, csn, enjoy your days too, gonna chuck a chuck in later and not much else apart from a taxi run for above GD - who I wouldnt be without for the world now!

Right time for something for the weekend now
    back later!

    Afternoon all

Bids: Yes I'm hoping the dint in the bank balance was worth it, seems to have been so far :)

Have been a good girl this morning and have made a concentrated effort to catch up with some of that long overdue sewing. I think I've earnt my lunch break now. Will be going back to it when I've done with my soup in a cup. It's a good feeling when you can see what a difference has been made in a couple of hours.

    Hugs to all

    Hi all

I have been lurking (honest). Actually when I saw Mary's long post I realised I can't have said anything for a while (at least nothing noteworthy), there's not a great deal happening in my life at the moment, still bored at work but still getting paid to be bored so not all bad. We've got the quiz cup final tomorrow but I don't hold out too much hope for us (we rarely beat the other team), still it will be enjoyable none the less.

Sezza - I admit mr g**gle had to be used, geocaching sounds like fun but it's a bit chilly today for outside pursuits. Actually it's been chilly for a couple of days, yesterday we had a massive thunderstorm with hail and the heating was on this morning (actually I never turn it off, I let the thermostat do it's job so if it is cold enough for heating - it comes on).

In case I forget - have a great holibobs Nic and Deevs (and congrats on passing the last assignment, I don't envy you with the essay though, I've never been good at that - give me multiple choice any day).

Congratulations on the forthcoming grandparenthood Loli and the greatauntedness Mary.

Hugs if you need them (((((())))))).

mtd, I twas lovely here earlier - so nice that we sat outside at the pub! I think that's the first time this year

Clouded over a bit now but the intrepid threesome have set out anyway

This geocaching is quite anew thing for them but it is good as it's something they can all do together AND it gets them out and about - some of them needing more incentive than others!

I go along with them sometimes but don'r fancy it today

Sbp, think of you often. Hope next week improves things for you

I may have some soggy souls turning up here soon!

Well I've just been out for my bit of fresh air and exercise, and I'm back now, with my 2nd drowned rat look of the weekend, do you think I can start a trend?! Luckily the heavens only opened in the last 10mins from home, but I object to cold showers! Once I've warmed up again (probably while making food, tum's grumbling at me again) I might dunk myself in the bath as no doubt my legs'll be telling me they've had a bit more of a workout than of late (ploughed fields and out of practice after a few weekends away) and my back is telling me I spend too long hunched over the sewing while the light was good earlier.

Have done absolutely nothing today but eat and read.

Nice to see you SB - and you MTD.

sezza - hope they are not too damp
ozgirl - well done for leaving the house, its alwasy a good start
Annie - great to see you too

Baggy: I try to make an effort especially at weekends, managed to pick up a few conkers today (before I got wet), so now I'm armed and dangerous ;)

I think the hardest part about exercise is making that start. I need a reason. Sometimes it's a letter to post, and then I think after I've dropped the letter in the box "I'm out now I may as well keep going and make a circuit out of this" so I do, other days I think "job done, back the way I came". I keep think about joining a gym again (mostly for the swimming pool), the motivating factor there would have to be "I've spent £xx on this, I need my moneys worth", so I'm working up the nerve to find out how much memberships are these days... Then I can work out where I'll fit the trips in, given it'll be at least a 20mile round trip each visit which sort of defeats the object since I can't walk there and back ;)

Smells like food should be ready, tum will be pleased (and it's ok, it's healthy veggies with a bit of mince, so I'm not undoing the walk just yet)

ozgirl - I recently joined a gym after a few months break, its a nice one and very close to my office and like you I know I have to go x amounts of times to make it worthwhile, havent weighed myself yet to see if its working but I do feel better for going

    Evenin' all,
just popping by after a short absence.
Hope everyone is well and happy.

Just polished off a LARGE portion of slow cooked beef casserole with a couple of HUMUNGOUS fluffy dumplings. Delish!

Apart from stuffing the washing machine a couple of times and the aforementioned meal, I have hardly moved from the sofa today. Well, sometimes you just have to kick back and recharge the batteries don't you. The weather has been foul today too and it's getting colder now.
However, I will NOT put the heating on yet, so off to raid the sock drawer and put another layer on!

    See ya'all later,

    Ta ta Lin x

  • Comment number 67.

Lin, gave in today as I was so cold and put the heating on! I've just turned the thermostat down so it just keeps the chill off

Baggy/Oz, can't face the gym. Manage a jazzercise class most weeks and the boys are starting to drag me out walking at the weekend

That's the one thing I miss about our old house. We used to be in town so I would often walk to the shops and I used to walk to the school a lot too but i don't any of that now. :-(

    No heating required here!

I think there may be one or two of you that 'get my drift?'

I dont think, that you need to pay to exercise, while the weather and daylight hours still allow, get out there and enjoy. I am lucky enough to live in a beautiful area, but, most of us only have to travel a few miles, to find somewhere amazing to walk and enjoy the changing seasons.

    Happy Days.

    Morning All,

The sun is cracking the flagstones here ;) Well it's sunny but not that warm.

Just catching up over the weekend and I would like to "ditto" everything that Mary posted xx There that's saved me a lot of time....lol.

Seriously though, many congratulations to Bingo. Like Debs I had spotted a rock on the young ladies finger but didn't want to say anything. She is a very lucky lady to nab our Bingo xxx

For those who asked on Friday I saw "I don't know how she does it" at the cinema, the one with SJP. It was just right for a Friday night chill out and not quite as predictable as you might think.

I am glad Debs explained about the Kardashians, I have watched it a few times but like most of those American fly on the wall programs I just want to throw the TV out of the window. Yesterday I had the misfortune to watch about 5 minutes of a program with Scary Spice in; that's 5 minutes of my life I'll never get back!!

Pen, I hope you had a lovely weekend with the Granddaughter xx

Well I went to Bournemouth and back on Saturday (thanks Bids for your kind offer xx), this time I didn't have to drive a colleague did that. It was a most pleasant afternoon and my ex boss is looking so relaxed; the change of role is obviously good for him. Now I just need to get myself sorted out!

The cold that I thought I was coming down with - I have. Yesterday I just spent the day feeling sorry for myself and today I sound like I've smoked about 20 Woodbines!!

    Onwards and upwards

    AliB
    xx
