Stunning day...

Chris Evans | 10:56 UK time, Thursday, 15 September 2011

...to go to an historic racetrack and drop your car off for the weekend. That's what I'm doing today. Goodwood here we come.

I have a motor featuring in one of the tribute events which needs to be there on site before midnight tonight. Currently on the A40 on the way home from work, trying to remember where and when I last had my driving goggles and silk scarf.

(Alright - I'm joking about my silk scarf, but not about the goggles).

Would love to stay there for the whole event - camping or motor-homing one year.

My goodness, there still so many things I want to do in this thing we call life.

Hope your rock is rolling on this beautiful Thursday.

Pistons and Love.

    Hello Girls and Boys,

It's a lovely day here in Bucks as well. Gorgeous drive to work through the Chalfonts - the leaves are just starting to turn and there is a smell of bonfires in the air.

    Have a good day everyone

Ah, the mention of motor-homing!! Is it an age thing or have others experienced this phenomenon. For the past year my OH and I have got it into our heads that we would love to purchase a motor home and set off on a senior "gap year". There were no such things back in my day unfortunately. It's great fun planning a route even though it may be a few years before we realise our dream. lol

    Hello.

Back from the hospital appointment, oxygen same as usual, I keep on desaturating (oxygen drops to seventy something instead of the ninety something it should be) and carbon dioxide only slightly high but my body's coping with it. This means all is OK and I continue with 15 hours oxygen a day.

I wish I could go along the prom on this sunny day but I'm now awaiting the boiler man and the home delivery.

CLP-I'm awaiting the scooter event to begin at Goodwood!

    Afternoon Each,

It's a nice day in my part of the world too :)

I've had an exciting morning at the church, someone wants to come and use one of our rooms for a movie! He is coming on Monday afternoon to have a look to see if it's suitable, he said that two famous ladies are staring in it - 'citing.

As for cars, as long as it gets me from A to B I'm not bothered, but Chris I know you love your motors, so have fun dropping it off at Goodwood.

Many years ago, as I was driving along I witnessed four big chaps standing looking at a rather expensive, shiny sports care; I am ashamed to say that I shouted out of the window "It's a car" - well it made me chuckle.

MM, Glad things are the same, would be good if they were slightly better though. I hope your boiler man is on time and doesn't charge you an arm and a leg! xx

Patty: you must talk to our lovely Keith about a motor home - he's the man with all the facts! You go for it, when the time it right!

Maddy: glad to hear all went well at the hospital. xx

AliB: very exciting indeed! Some way, somehow, get yourself a part as an "extra"!

Bids: wouldn't it be fantastic to have Chris as a house guest?!

Heading off home, soon, thank goodness. What a long day this has been!

Patty, that sounds like such a good plan. Sometimes I think we'd all like to run away

Maddy, good to hear you're doing well. Has the boiler-man done his stuff yet?

Ali, very exciting! Should be more interesting than grade 1 piano!

I've just put a link on t'other side to a clip that made boy2 go WOW!!! Amazing what you can do with a pop bottle!

    Aaaaaarrrrrrrgggggggghhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Well, I've found the spider!

I was sitting watching television when it suddenly came running at me along the sofa. It moves so fast but not as fast as me when I jumped up. Ithen bravely went back and carefully lifted all the cushions and it appears to have run down the back of the sofa. There'll be no sitting there for me tonight or tomorrow for that matter.

Sezza-the boiler man has done his work and it appears that something has overheated, he said that this is nothing to worry about unless it keeps on happenin g too often.

Off to make a cup of tea to calm myself down, can't concentrate on TV any more tonight!

    Morning blog peeps!

The sun's not up yet, but fingets crossed it'll make an appearance soon.

Not much to report, looking forward to littlest granddaughter coming for a sleepover, without her big sister this time. Methinks she will be thoroughly spoilt. Not a word to her parents you understand!

As if on cue, the sun's now arrived.

    Morning All,

Hip Hip Hooray it's Friday - my get up and go has got up and gone! I am also coming down with a cold, I think; sore throat, bit snotty etc. It could be my hectic lifestyle catching up on me and this weekend isn't any easier.

Tomorrow I am off to Bournemouth for the day, my old boss is being inducted into his new church so I thought I better go and show my face. Sunday morning I shall be up early to watch the England match as I missed last weeks due to being on the M1.

Hi Bids, Hi Rips, Hi Pen and Hi to anyone else who's snuck in.

I hope everyone has a great weekend - anyone up to anything exciting?

    Hi everyone:

Maddy: hope you managed to get that spider! I'm sure I would faint if one came at me on the sofa!

Rips: always nice to see you.

PJ: enjoy your week off - it's always lovely to great a wee break.

AliB: fantastic news about Miranda Hart - hooray!

Regarding the miners, it is just awful, I do pray that they will get out safely. My heart really goes out to their families, too, because as yet they have not identified the name of the man who has died, so all the families must be in hell at the moment.

Sorry Deevs, I'm with Pen on CT, cannot stand him on the radio, the way he talks in loud bursts, has sharp intakes of breath after sentences, interrupts people and that battle of the oldies is just so awful, never mind as Pen says it wouldn't do if we all liked the same things. Rant over!

I have just come back from a lovely holiday in Crete so I have a lot to catch up on, so I hope everyone has been playing nicely.

    continued...

I actually heard the whole show today and it was brilliant wish I could hear it everyday.

Anyway I have a secret that I want to share with you all. I have been longing to belong to a very special "club" for a very long time, all my friends are in it and now I am going to be "in it" too. I want to shout it from the roof tops...

I AM GOING TO BE A GRANDMOTHER!

There i have said it, you are the first to know as I have been sworn to secrecy. My daughter has her first scan on Wednesday. Already I am longing to get up into the loft to find my little baby keepsakes which belonged to my daughter, but mr loli has had to reign me in a bit! Anyway I cant wait to go to the shops and buy the cutest little baby clothes.

The sun is shining here, and I am not back to work until Monday...bliss.
    love you all

    Afternoon everyone

Loli, Fab news - congratualtions. Another Blog Grand-Baby who will be thoroughly spoilt methinks!!

I think I could get fed up with Tarrant fairly quickly but I like him for a while. He obviously loves what he's doing and I think that shows so much

Miranda may actually be the thing that makes me switch off in the mornings! Have you heard her and the other chap I've never heard of when they are in on bank holidays? They are obviously not experienced radio people! I'm not sure I can cope with that first thing

I'll give them a go though

I'll echo Deevs, I would love to wake up with Richard Allinson or Aled Jones - I'm not fussy!

Deevs, I still miss falling asleep with RA!!

From the preview tape they played at the concert I shall be falling asleep with nightmares if the Pink Floyd documentry is on in the usual 10pm slot

Am loving Moira's Jazz ladies, the 20th Century thing is intersting if a little random and I loved Pete Townsend talking about The Who, he has a fantastic voice

Loli, I also will not offer to knit for the baby unless it would really like a sort of lacy doily effect dishcloth!

One of my ladies here knit beautifully. At the moment she has orders for 4 baby shawls as well as keeping her grand children's wardrobes full.

Now, why didn't I learn something useful like that!

    Sezza xxx

  • Comment number 46.

I really wish I could knit, but I'm left-handed and every time my mum / aunts / nan / friends have tried to teach me, they've given up, running screaming towards the horizon because of my "cack-handedness".

    Hmph!

    Afternoon blog poppets.

Condolenses (? spelling) to the family of the poor miner who has been found dead. The families of the remaining miners must be beside themselves.

On a more cheery note I am over the moon to hear Miranda Hart is covering for Chris in October. I do like RM but not as a DJ so have turned to John Humpreys et al every time Chris has had time away.

I hope all of you are well.
