Bunga Bunga. He's gone!!!
Well, he's almost gone. Or will he ever really go? Italy's debt has increased exponentially in the last twenty four hours, and Bunga Bunga Berlusconi has said he will resign within the next fortnight.
I'm not so sure. I think he's a clinger (they all are dear).
Mind you, he does have all those telly stations and newspapers to run. Highly inadvisable to have your PM in charge of half the country's media don't you think ?
Closer to home, I'm staying in London tonight. My wife has sanctioned a night out for me with an old car pal.
Max - I'll see you at the usual place, wearing the usual pink carnation.
Peace and Love my friends

PART 3 -A:
The raise of the speed limit to 80mph isn't a factor that will make roads more dangerous. The Institute Of Advanced Motorists have long argued for a raise to 80mph on the motorways.
The best way to make roads safer is educate drivers.
This can be done by re-testing. This for sure would make people sharper/ better drivers. Build up their knowledge of driving.
I'm amazed at how many people when you get talking to them all think they know so much about the rules of the road. When actually.... They don't!!
People are strange when it comes to driving... Most think they are better than they are and most have their own interpretation of rules.
In fact it is worrying just how many people don't really know the exact rules of certain aspects of driving who actually drive daily.
I myself even though I'm a HGV driver of 14 years, car driver of 20 years, a member of the Advanced Motorists having passed my advanced test, been to police skid control courses and taken part in motorsport events & held a racing licence... Despite this I do admit it... Some rules on the roads i'm not 100% sure about!!!!!!
And a quick read of the Highway Code is a great refresher.
The only problem I've noticed driving in my truck... Often I will be following a rule correctly & somebody else will nearly have a collision with me as they think I'm wrong & they are right.
One common area is when I have to occupy two lanes with my truck when turning. Very often I come across drivers who even though I'm straddling the white lines & part in both lanes I've had people trying to get past me & beeping their horn at me & doing rude signs... As they simply don't understand the Highway Code & drive with a me, me, me aggressive attitude.
It says very clearly in the Highway Code that large vehicles often need to take up more than one lane at roundabouts/ when turning at junctions & extra room/ patience should be given to HGVs. But isn't this just simple common sense?
Most of the Highway Code are simple rules of simple common sense!!!
Years ago I was involved in an accident on the South Circular road in Wimbledon.
I was driving a tanker of highly flammable solvents (more flammable than petrol). As I pulled away from a set of traffic lights already occupying the 2 lanes as the road was of narrow lanes AND I had a cyclist next to me on my left. When a lunatic in a van came full speed and went for a gap between me & the central traffic island. He expected me to swerve over the cyclist for him. (that he was also convinced was not there, He couldn't see it due to my vehicle and his speed).
The result he skidded into my 40 tonne tanker & the front side of his van, the metal exploded with the force. Why a 2 tonne van would take on a 40 tonne tanker?
But the most worrying thing is as part of his van exploded with force... The debris hit the side of my tanker nearly rupturing the side. If that had happened... 35,000 litres of liquid could have leaked & my vehicle would have exploded with a large fireball. All because of one idiot!!!
When he got out of his van he was screaming at me totally convinced he was right. And calling me a liar about the being a cyclist!!!
This is my point of how scary it is that there are these people out there who never read the Highway Code yet are convinced they are know all about driving.
And the mad thing 鈥 Being rush hour,150 yards ahead was a large traffic jam, so if the van drive had got ahead of me... He would have just sat in a traffic jam ahead of me. Yet he badly wrecked his van & nearly caused an explosion to try & do so... CRAZY!
It's scary just how bad some drivers are out there. Seem to have a mentality of not looking properly ahead. Not thinking about their actions/ driving.
And sadly this is why serious accidents do & will carry on happening.
The introduction of re-testing incorporating the advanced driving test really, really would make driving so much safer & better for all.
It would save money on accidents, make insurance companies pay out less claims & cut the pain & hurt families feel after the loss or injury of loved ones.
So WHY do the government not do this???
If 2,000 people a year died in train crashes the railways would be shut down!!!!!

One VERY good yet simple A very fast way to cut road deaths would be send everybody a copy of the Highways Code Book with their tax disc renewal form 鈥 This for sure would save well over 100 lives in the first year alone 鈥 maybe many many more !!!!
How many people actually go to the trouble of buying the Highways Code... Very few.... Mainly only when people are trying to pass their driving test!!!!
So why do the government not do this? It's a very easy way of improving our road safety!
I'm sure many people would take a look at it over breakfast or on their work break and look at aspects of the Highway Code they are not sure about.
And another very effective way would be send a leaflet with their tax disc renewal all about a particular rule/ area of safety that's in the highway code.
Maybe safety critical areas of driving and areas where there are a higher number of serious road accidents.
This would greatly educate drivers, and ultimately save lives and reduce injuries!!!
I mean how many times do you get leaflets with your road tax reminder like the ones trying to sell you a personalised number plate!!!!!
Yet never anything about road safety!!!!!
Is the government's ONLY priority about collecting money from us & not the welfare/ care of motorists?????@?@??
Even when you hear governments talking about road deaths, very often mentioned is that each death costs the tax payer so much money per year!
I'm sure the above basic ideas would be very effective ways of reducing road deaths!!!!!

PS One other important driving tip the IAM teach you is look more further ahead to see what's going on further down the road.
Most motorists just stare at the rear of the vehicle in front of them!!!!!
What you should do is be looking 200 yards or more ahead of the vehicles in front of you.... This way you can react to slowing traffic even before the vehicle ahead of you does!!!!
I've done this & often seen something happening ahead... started slowing and watched the vehicle in front of me nearly have an accident as they've not seen the hazard until the last moment!!!!!!!!
So rmemeber the Bingo IAM driving tip terdee: Look as far ahead down the road as you can, NOT just at the rear of the vehilce in front!!!!!!

I agree that you should be looking well ahead of the road when driving ,My thoughts are always with not the car in front of me as I can see them ,but it's the ones in front of them that I'm thinking off . also I never over take on a hill which some people tend to do .
And bikes ,had one tonight ,couldn't over take him as he had a loose jacket on flapping all over the place and his feet wher sticking out off the side off the peddles just like ducks feet, you've only got to brush by them and they'd be off.

Bridget M - Yes cyclists can be very 'azardous!!!!! There's alot who seem tet think they are above the 'ighway code!!!!!!
A common problem a get in me truck is them coming up me inside inter me blind spots - MADNESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Although ave recently started cycling ter work mesen again!!!!!!
Again it's all common sense... A wear bright clothing a try ter keep out of th eway of cars... Although not always easy if yerv gotta traffic island that narrows the road ter just wide enough for a car!!!!
Also it can be bad in the wind on a bike!!!!!!
The only thing when passing a cyclist a was taught ALWAYS give them an exagerated amount of room!!!!!
A good metre to cars width... better to be safe than sorry!!!!!!!
Also it says this in the 'ighway Code!!!!!!!
Bids - Am amazed 'ow yer drive around London in once piece.... Especially with those BIG air ducts!!!!!!!
Obamarama - Speed alone isn't dangerous... It's in the wrong place at the right time!!!!!!
Most modern cars can do 100mph safely.... With many 'igh performance cars capable of easy cruising at 120mph!!!!!!!!
I mean if it's so dangerous why do the traffic police drive at 130mph sometimes!!!!!!
But I think this is where roads are going backwards have reached their peak of evolution as firstly:
The faster yer go man do yer use a BIG BIG amount fo fuel.... And what with the rediculars 'igh cost of fuel... Is it worth it????
Secondly:
Yer can't really drive anywhere fast as the roads are so crowded... AND sadly with a lot of selfish idiots!!!!!!!
A mean try going fast even on a quiet motorway yer still get strange people who seem ter get kick out of obstructing yer progress!!!!!!
Yer never know what's goijg through the minds of some drivers.... Some might be day dremaing, using the phone.... 'aving an arguement or think if they are going at the max speed limit then they shouldn't 'ave ter move!!!!!!
All a can say is ave seen it all!!!!!!!!
Ave driven everything from being in a slow truck ter a 180mph Lotus!!!!!!!!!!
When am in me truck everyone 'ates me as i'm holding them up!!!!!!!
When ave driven me Lotus then it's the other way around people won't co'operate with me.
Yer can't win all.... A can't win!!!!!!
Ter be 'onest a think 80mph is the relaistic max..... I sort of agree & disagree at raising the speed limit!!!!!
Yer use alot of fuel at 80mph.... But then if yer driving from say London ter Glasgow... Do yer really wanter trickle at 70mph up a deserted M74???????
This is where there's a flaw in cars.... The future is railways!!!!!!!!!
Where else can yer cruise at 125mph.... Or the channel tunnel trains do 186mph!!!!!!!!!
All whilst 'aving a cuppa tea with yer family in COMPLETE safety!!!!!!!!!
Ter me the governments should make the trains cheaper and open for all ter travel on!!!!!!!!
This new London ter Scotland 'igh speed one madness a think is MADNESS!!!!!!!
Instead of wasting billions destroying villages and building a new railway line just ter get from London ter Manchester in an 'our.... A mean now it can be done in 2 'ours.... That already us plenty fast enough.... Why do we need ter be even faster??????
A???? AYE????????????????
What they should do is spend those billions making the trains that we already 'ave cheaper.... more frequent.... less crowded and yer cuppa tea cheaper!!!!!!!!!!
'ope this answers yer Q Obamarama!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?

Bingo - I always give cyclists a lot of room, I'm sure someone told me once that you should give them a car width, if they fall sideways and end up on the deck that's about the amount of space they would need not to hit your car.
