Goodbye Germany

Post categories:

Comedy Dave | 10:50 UK time, Monday, 3 July 2006

Comedy DaveWe dreamed of making it to the final, but in the end it just wasn't to be and if everybody's totally honest England simply weren't good enough. They are a side of world class players, but 11 world class players don't necessarily result in a world class team, and England at no point looked like a threat in this tournament.

They were due a decent performance which sadly never came and all we saw were stuttering glimpses of what might have been. Much as his behaviour was disgraceful, Cristiano Ronaldo didn't knock England out of the world cup, nor did the referee, nor did the widespread play acting and foul play of the Portuguese side as a whole. England had 5 games against mediocre oppostion to prove themselves worthy of a place in the latter stages of this competition and sadly never looked deserving of such honour, and need to look at themselves and the coaching set up for the answers.

So our world cup adventure comes to an end, and we're now packing our bags and looking forward to a night in our own beds. We've had a great time here, and enjoyed first class hospitality from the German people who've been great hosts. Personally I've been fortunate enough to see England play in the world cup and for that I'm very grateful, so many thanks to those that made it all possible.

Goodbye and auf wiedersehen from Germany, and thanks to everyone who worked so hard on what has been a very special few weeks. It's been a pleasure and a privilege.

Ta
Dave.

Hey Guys! Its been great listening to you guys online, especailly because i've been living out here in Germany for a year now. You guys have really helped me fight the often racist attitudes from my english friends about the german people. They are really nice people and are always friendly not just during the world cup. Its a shame that both England and Germany are now out, but hey it saved the domestic between me and my man (he's german, i'm english).

say hi to the island for me! xx

Hi Dave,

Sorry for England's exit. I think your point on England's performance and Rooney is quite fair. At least Sven is finally gone.

I'd like to ask for a BIG FAVOR. I'd like to have the classical class back!!! When you were in Germany it changed, which was fine. But now you are back, the original classical class should return too! Thanks a lot.

Stop chucking your toys out the pram Robert from Poland and read the blog again idiot. You may then see that Dave is not being a 'sour loser' and actually admitted the England team did not play their best. Or did you not actually read the post??? Now go away silly boy.

On another note away from that n*bhead, well done to all the team.

Welcome home!!!

HEY PEOPLE,
Gutted , absolutely gutted, but you guys have been absololutely fabulous in germany, and really cheered me up this morning! Although the penalties over oasis was not the best best way to go off to school .
Regarding the teams performance i wish people would focus on the positives, like that with ten men against portugal we had the upper hand for the majority nof that hour. I also don't think the formation was any good at all!
Welcome home guys! You have been and always will be fab!

Can't agree with you more, Dave. Whilst Ronaldo was arrogant he wasnt the one who stamped on some poor guy's happy sacks...the ref didnt help but if England had just made something of the chances we had, it could have been a different story. But - they were brave; they didnt give in when there were 10 men, and I for one was still a very proud England fan.

I personally thank you did a great job covering the World Cup. You had a great show. I am still laughing about the Flatulence Article. Your show breathed life into sports reporting.

For those who complain about their tax money going to such a report,
I will be missing your show [although I hope to hear you on 大象传媒 Radio One on my Windows Media Player in the near future].

I would also like to thank you for allowing me to blog about World Cup Reactions here in Miami Florida. For those that don't understand my blog, I wanted to give the World Cup Reports another dimension and share it with the public.

If you ever come to Miami Florida, please feel free to let me know.

Without much, My Best Wishes to all of you in the Chris Moyles Show.

Dave you really cheered me up this morning with the story about the 'upset' fans and the "different types of emotions" (regarding the urinating) LMFAO. Hopefully you'll be able to do more trips and stuff, the 大象传媒 have managed to hammer home the message to their critics about the license fee by showing the one big weekend thing being setup "This is what we do" Well done.
