I hate early mornings

Hello - I'm Will, former Producer of Chris' afternoon show and now self styled guru of all things visual at Radio 1.

My alarm went off at 3.45 this morning...it wasn't a good look. Back on the early shift after nearly 4 years, yuck. However, all in a good cause as Chris - for the first time in history - has allowed us to film the show while he's on the air. Each day we'll be bringing you the visual highlights of The Chris Moyles show, for a one-week only special offer. This tasty treat will be served up at around 12 ish each day. Today Chris dragged me back on air to promise the listeners that it would be live by 12. It wasn't of course. This wasn't my fault, we had two epic power cuts in the Radio 1 building as I was trying to edit. Besides it's the first time we've done this and there was a fair amount of web-geekery (which frankly goes right over my head) that needed to happen.

It was there by 12.45, but I doubt that'll save my from a roasting on the show tomorrow...oh good...just like the old days!

For the anoraks...we have 5 cameras, three remote robot heads and two static cameras that get a close up of Chris and that weird shot of Dave's big face and Dom in the background. I'm stuck in what can best be described as a cupboard vision mixing the show as we go. It gets recorded onto Final Cut Pro and then I do a hasty edit in time for lunch! Then some people with large brains and questionable social skills take the video from me and it goes on the internet. (I still have no idea how this happens).

Got to also mention Uncle Terry who is there doing something special and secret with a laptop...maybe we'll get to tell you more about that later in the week. Ssshh!

So there you go. A day of firsts, my first blog, Chris' first show on video and Aled's first appearance on TV without hair product. It was a lot of hard work so go check it out. See it here

I'm going to bed now - a week of earlies is not good for a man in my condition.

Will x

@ actam, fully agree, everyone should be allowed to see the video.

However because of the "unique way the ´óÏó´«Ã½ is funded" we are not allowed to watch the video from overseas. At least, that's what the'd have you believe.

Actually, it's got nothing to do with funding, it's because the corporate suits love sitting around in boardrooms too much to actually make a logical decision which would benefit the listeners to the show.

If you are overseas you can listen to the show (live or for one week afterwards), you can look at the website, you can download images, and even watch Radio 1's Big Weekend coverage on television. But you can't stream a video.

It beggars belief how the ´óÏó´«Ã½ can be so innovative and so backward at the same time.

I also am bummed that I cannot watch the video. I have Sirius and love the show and listen to it every morning, except the feed was down for at least an hour this morning (6-7 CDT). Please tell the suits that "International Radio 1" needs to be international for all.
Will remain a loyal, but saddened fan

I've been able to see every other video up to now. All the Celeb Laps, studio and location stuff. I can understand not see actual ´óÏó´«Ã½ television shows, but video clips???
    Makes no sense to me.

I found the loophole! If you're out of the UK you can watch the videos on Facebook.
