It was a good Glastonbury

It was a good Glastonbury this year. On the Friday at around 3 o'clock I had my doubts as the sky was dark grey and the rain just looked set to stay for the duration. Went to see as many bands as possible but the mud made it SOOoo difficult to get around.

We had the Hoosiers on my show and I trucked along to see their set on the Other stage - it obviously meant the world to them to be playing Glasto and they went down well - lifting the crowds spirits with their cheery songs and all singing/all dancing cheerleaders - certainly put a smile on the faces of the boys in the crowd.

Vampire Weekend were a little reticent on the show having been made to carry their own equipment all the way over to the park area - in the mud - in their very favourite trainers with bin liners over the top. But - they were excellent on the Other stage - drew the biggest crowd I've seen there and got everyone shimmying in the mud.

Saturday and Sunday and the mood of everyone just got better and better. Bumped into Yannis from Foals who was incredibly nervous before they played - the reason being that it was such a big deal to be on-stage at Glastonbury and in his own words - he wanted Foals to play like Heroes. And they did.

This year I got to see so much more of the Festival than ever before - I did all the outer reaches... the Circus fields where you could make a clay model of yourself and place it in their mini Glasto field...the Healing Fields where you can send a postcard from Glasto to a friend and place a wish on the Wishing Tree - this was my favourite thing.

People had placed their secret wishes on bits of gold card and strung them up to make the tree. The wishes ranged from heartfelt wishes for happiness, for recovery from illness to love... boyfriends... babies... to things like 'I wish my brother would stop weeing on me'... 'I wish I hadn't burnt my back'... 'A huge knob please'... and so on. Very funny and sweet and poignant all rolled into one.

On the show on Monday we asked for your photos from the festival - here they are!

The tent-off challenge

How many people can you get in a tent? The answer is 13! Let's see if Annie Mac and Tim Westwood can beat that.

I have super-fans!

I was in the middle of doing the show when these two guys ran up to me! They are Richie and Phil, and apparently they 'heart' me!

View from the top of the tower

We started the show up the ribbon tower at the Park Stage, which gave us amazing views of the site. You can hear me doing the link with Chris Moyles in the background while Sam filmed.

Festival Fashion Tips from Angela Buttolph!

FOR GIRLS
Its all a bit hippy rock chick; think Anna Friel at the Isle of White festival, with a Rolling Stones logo t, worn with a chunky brass ethnic necklace over the top, or Mischa Barton at Coachella, rock band t and then she had a fringey suede jacket.

PLAID DRESSES bit grungey!
Matalan's sleeveless button through checked dress is only 拢14.99, and Urban Outfitters purple and black empire line dress with slouchy pockets is 拢48.50, good with a slogan or rock band t underneath. Wear with long granddad cardi and swap wellie boots/flip flops/converse.

Lily Allen memories from the Live Lounge Tour back in 2006

This week on my show we played back the interview of when I met Lily Allen on her working house boat.

Lily was wearing a full size dinosaur babygro, which I'll never forget!

Coldplay as babies

Hey ho - morning after the Coldplay gig the night before. The evening was just gorgeous - such a great warm atmosphere - everyone singing along to all the old favourites...Fix You was an incredible moment with the crowd taking over the singing - was really moving. Probably my favourite bit though was when the band suddenly appeared on the balcony - the four of them like folk troubadours - clustered tightly around a microphone to do the simplest and sweetest rendition of Yellow which took me right back to when I first had the band on my show - kind of melted inside when Chris gave me a namecheck midway through. Some bands just get lost in showbiz and some always remember the people who were there for the journey. Was really happy to have seen my old partner from the Evening Session - Steve Lamacq introduce the band onstage. This was my absolute favourite moment because you could see the band taking stock of the night - grinning from ear to ear and all looking a little bit overcome. The new songs sounded just immense - by the time they do the dates in December and people have got to know the album the place will just explode when they do songs like Viva La Vida, Lost, Lovers in Japan - 42...they work so well Live those tracks. At the end of the night a thousand squillion confetti butterflies were released onto the heads of the audience - all lit up by UV lights - Magical...

Had a word with the band after and they were thoroughly pleased with the whole evening - massively relieved to stop talking about the music and start playing it - loving every second.

Thought you might like to see some cute photos from the early days of Coldplay on Radio One when the band were mere babies!!

Backstage at the Foo Fighters' gig at Wembley

Foo Friday - Such a brilliant day. One of those times you are completely appreciative of the job you do. Arriving at Wembley was magical - seeing the whole thing being set up - realising the colossal number of people and amount of work that goes into a show like the Foos at Wembley was awe-inspiring...

And the winner is...

Tuesday night and it was the Glamour awards - don't know how they do it but it's always THE most fabulous event.

They get tons of celebrities there - from The Spice Girls to Rio Ferdinand to Kate Beckinsale. Justin Lee Collins and Alan Carr were there along with James Corden, Mark Ronson and just about every pretty young thing you've ever seen in the style mags.

Favourite game was playing 'Spot the Botox' and looking for fake tan disasters. I had my own disaster - got out of the car in a torrential downpour and my lovely dress got spattered with rain - I looked like I'd thrown a glass of white wine ll over myself!!

Inevitably those pics will surface in some fashion disaster column - looking forward to that!...To sum up. Paul O'Grady was completely brilliant as the host...Lily Allen was enchanting with her pink hair and Beth Ditto got the biggest cheer of the night - a lot of love in the room for her. Fun night x
