My take on immigration runs the gamut. Fundamentally (as recently posted) I do not believe we have visceral tolerance of 'other'. Thus, when society is stressed, (or drunk) gut-nastiness breaks out. More immediately, as has been shown, those enticed into the trap of streets paved with something better than mud, are tricked, abused and fleeced (they might almost be British citizens!) All of this is cause for a sober look at what, exactly, is going on.
This question Newsnight has tackled, shrewdly, through the eyes of an 'ex-offender' but why can you not resist the arty-farty bells and whistles? These detract from deserved gravitas. For example: in the first part, there were three spuriosi displaying sad body language in a sort of tableau. WHY?

Charisma is on the march again, shining so brightly that one just can't quite make out what is behind the sparkle. It looks good, it feels good and by golly - it just might do anything. Oratory - Charisma's right hand boom - is in close attendance; rapture is all around.

Those with an ounce of acumen, today recoil from the trail that shooting-star Blair left, and the wealthy cinder that now rolls about, with residual momentum, in more forgiving places.

Put not your trust in Charismatic Oratory, it can be the first refuge of the psychologically desperate 'scoundrel'.

You ask who should discuss the last of NN's 'really strong immigration series' of films.

Instead of inviting the latest in a series of failed Home Office apologists, why not be bold and give some credit to those who warned of the dangers long before it was deemed OK for ´óÏó´«Ã½ and others to discuss such important issues.

I suggest Sir Andrew Green of Migration Watch and somebody from BNP - or are we still not ready to accept that they do have
views that are shared widely amongst the English population?

Surely there's been enough Obamania for now. There'll be plenty of opportunity for more once the Republicans finish their convention and the race "proper" starts.

How about linking the US presidential bunfight to the reports that NuLab will go for 6 November at Glenrothes in the hopes of it being a good "bad news day" like 9-11?

How about setting the scene for the party conference season with the Cameron "I'm going are you?" challenge to "Duff" Gordon and the reports that cabinet members are saying that he should go because he has nothing to lose?

All easy but interesting stuff to do in the studio.

PARADISE REGAINED

I see the Sin Bin is privy to Samuel Johnson's: "Patriotism is the LAST refuge of a scoundrel" that I semi-plagiarised to assert that charisma is the FIRST refuge of the definitively scoundrelous politician. Hence my post #2 is returned to the living. I apologise for my lack of faith in Newsnight erudition, and my consequent, hasty re-post with redacted word. (Oh me of little faith.) I would hate the regulars to think me out of control to the point of double-posting!

Searchlight magazine:

UKIP have a tough but practical line on Immigration; why not invite them?

Re #7. Reverting to lifting the proaganda your so cherish, directly from your favoured organ, I see. And this as substitute for making and replying to points made.
'Dense' you say? As in accepting a view of a political party wholesale, from its direct opponents? Very shrewd.
Meanwhile, back in the real world, 2 local by-elections took place yesterday, with the BNP polling an average of 14%-real people-real votes-real concerns, not shared by all by any means, but by many. Your response has already been established- these people like sex with sheep.
Don't imagine that you are opposed to, or worried by, the growth of the BNP, a perfectly responsible position for many; no you are a would-be censor, a ban-promoter, and a hater of your own countrymen and women, without the intellect or integrity or knowledge to reflect on their fears and concerns.

#10 the gangofone is beginning to sound like the ideal candidate to stand for the PFJ in Monty Python's Life Of Brian. Perhaps if we had PR in the UK both the BNP and the PFJ equivalent ( greens ) would attract minor support and perhaps get the odd seat in parliament. At least it would be good for alleged democracy ?

The establishment daren't allow the debate.But it is being forced on them. And they are losing it.

why do other countries seem to fare better than us over illegal immigration? What is so good about living here that makes illegals want to risk all that hassle just to get here, the French do not fund illegals as the Italians...maybe that's it.
