Here is what is coming up on Newsnight with Emily Maitlis:
The European Union's executive arm, the European Commission, has asked for a significant increase in the annual EU budget, well above EU inflation, which is about 3%.
The British government said the 4.9% demand is "not acceptable" at a time when EU states were imposing austerity cuts.
Tonight we will report on the risk of a damaging row between member states and be speaking to a member of the commission.
We have a film on the use of internet pornography by young adults - the material available, levels of use and the effects on both consumers and those whom they form relationships with.
We will be discussing the issue with former home secretary Jacqui Smith and internet pornography distributor Jerry Barnett.
Plus we will look at the phenomenon of the media super injunction. Are they hampering serious journalism or a necessary protection from the worst elements of the tabloid press?
Kelvin MacKenzie and lawyer Charlotte Harris, who represents clients who believe their privacy was systematically invaded by the News of the World, will join us on the programme.

Try doubling that for the truth

Just imagine if we were forced to pay for the tabloid press or go to jail / face a heavy (for those who cant pay) fine like we are with the 大象传媒 if you own a TV. The tabloid press can say what the hell they like as far as I'm concerned it wont put me in jail.
Why dont you make that comparison - the worse elements of the tabloid press vs the 大象传媒 pay or jail while you pay people crazy money to read a script ?

The pace of technological change impinges of every facet of life, such that the EU adventure is now a negative rather than the (arguable) positive, when there were six. Were politicians pragmatic and honourable, it would be gently disbanded, countries left with their identities and foibles intact, and peaceful coexistence fostered. But the corrupt EU gravy train (as always) has no brakes and is headed for mythological Nirvana. It is beloved of its suited beneficiaries. They might row, but they will run it as far as it will go, regardless of value to the general public.
I can't wait to be instructed in how young adults use internet porn. I could never imagine what they might do for myself. . . That鈥檒l be a coffee break.
What's one more bit of hidden truth (or hidden lies) after The Blair Years? Let's just be glad we are the most civilised country on the planet - allegedly.

Tabloids. Broadsheets. The Grauniad. Now even the 大象传媒. Seems serious, er, journalism is also going through a bad spell.

He covers all the intrigue and lies leading up to the first world war, the retreat from Dunkirk, the rise of Hitler and it is a book that I could not put down. NN posts will enjoy it. When you compare the D notice, for that is what it is, being imposed on free reporting on a 'footballer' and an 'actor' it makes you wonder what a world we are living in.....

tabloid press/super injunctions: it is terrible that we even could need such protections for privacy - and equally terrible that such injunctions could be granted. What we NEED is a media that is owned by the reporters themselves, who will then take responsibility for their own words. It is the kkkorporate structure of the Press that leads to 'Tabloidism', and the kind of behaviour we have seen at the News of the World. The wrong questions are being asked about this issue - as per usual.
the EU has transformed the political landscape of the European continent. I think if our grandparents could have chosen between having an EU infrastructure, or 70,000,000 of them dying in pointless wars, it would have been a fairly easy choice. Is it perfect? Well, neither is Westminster, cry me a river. PEOPLE aren't perfect, and we have to design Public bodies to reflect that. The EU is facing enormous challenges right now, with the problems of the Euro North/South divide, and its quite likely it will change its development course quite dramatically soon (and necessarily so), but lets not throw out the baby with the bathwater.
people look at porn on the internet?? Shocking. Mary Whitehouse would have been outraged. I know, lets ban the Internet, and then young people won't think about sex. Sorted!! :D

Oh Dear, we can鈥檛 have a row over that now, can we? So, once again our Big 3 political parties will talk the TALC - of Tolerance, Apathy, Lethargy and Complacency - and comply with the EU directive, with only the radical minor parties and some independents challenging EU control.
Meanwhile, we are kept distracted by a royal occasion, whilst selling our sovereignty down the river of profligacy, and the row and lies over AV continue.
Have we yet been told who are funding the alternative campaigns? The only claims that I fully accept are that all 鈥榮ponsors鈥 will have vested interests.
Comments blogged by members of the public seem more constructive, e.g. :-
In response to a vote 'YES' advert:-
鈥淭he question is whether people who want a huge change - withdrawal from the EU - are prepared to embrace a small change which could make it slightly but still significantly easier to achieve the huge change.鈥 and
In response to a vote 'NO' advert:-
鈥淚 fail to see how your scenario demonstrates that it (AV) is less democratic than the winning candidate being voted in with a third of the votes. Under your scenario the winning candidate under AV would have 100% of either first or second preferences (20% of 1st preference, 80% of 2nd) whereas under FPTP the winning candidate would not have been voted for by 66% of the voters. Neither is perfect, very far from it, but I would suggest the scenario given is actually demonstrating that AV is far more representative of the voter鈥檚 broader preferences with, in your scenario, 100% of voters choosing the winning candidate with their top 2 votes, than with FPTP which in this example only represents 34% of the electorate.鈥
Is it not possible for NN to conduct a serious, unbias review, instead of stage-managing edgy studio discussions?

Has Jacque Smith submitted her expenses to the 大象传媒 yet? will there be an injuction? Will Max Clifford be consulted. Will some lawyer make a fortune?

The first nations to institute a new monetary system for banks and commerce will be the survivors. The rest will slide into the darkness of the Third World."

Our inept governance is squaring up to still-birth, 'health', welfare, imprisonment etc - giving the illusion of IMPROVEMENT, going forward, in the now space.
Meanwhile MOTHERING (in government eyes) is a non-job, BREAST is a unit of pornography (not a vital rescue to the newborn) and INSTITUTIONALISATION, masquerading as 'education', is ever-longer; starting ever -younger. Thus we have a NEVER-ENDING SUPPLY of pre-damaged lives (a wellspring of the chronic sick and poorly motivated) for unskilled, Little Jack Horner politicians to poke at.
Who is the Minister for Life Optimisation (LO!)? Nuff sed.
I am starting to wonder if we routinely mess up Johnnie Foreigner Land, so that WE don't look quite so bad by comparison! Very Dave.

How bizarre that the Monsieur Buf thought sensible projects somehow cancel-out barking ones. With that kind of logic, the world will be at peace by Christmas.

For governance, PARTIES are taken as a 'given', for learning SCHOOL, for human failure PRISON, and for disagreement with Johnnie Foreigner WAR.
Had our 'leaders' any wisdom, these manifestly false premises would be challenged and discarded. But those who aspire to run our lives, live 'within the lie' and will not be challenging anything - beyond AV.
Party politics is a war game (we are collateral damage). It is juvenile play. Effective management, in other spheres of life, is not so configured.
Might Newsynighty confront the next politician with this reasonable tenet? Point out that John Reid declared the AV squabble TOO IMPORTANT FOR PARTY POLITICS TO IMPINGE. Much follows from that. Can you see what it is yet?

yes, he would have annoyed many people, and he didn't care - he just pointed out, and explained, the hypocrisy and politicking of the UK Govt. The UK Govt signed up to measures to boost employment (hi tech, infrastructure etc) EU-wide, but is now trying not to pay the bill THEY INCURRED. Of course, 'our' Govt is ONLY interested in paying the bills of badly run banks, rather than employing people. We know that already. I wonder if Camoron intends to try to use this as a way out of the EU? The UK being locked out of the EEC would destroy even the few vestiges of economic activity we have left, but can he convince his right-wing backers about this? Or is this yet another way of building public opinion against the EU? After all, the Tories failed in their attempt to create a new 'voting bloc' in the European Parliament (ending up with the fascists, and other assorted extremist retards, embarrassingly for them!), and they have attempted to use HUMAN RIGHTS (!!!!!!!!!!!) as a means to leave. Now will they AGAIN embarrass themselves, by demanding impossible things from the EU and failing?? Appalling domestic policies, appalling foreign policies - are we still ruled by NuLabour?? :/
if we want honest politicians, we have to accept them being amused by political ignorance, as the EU guy was last night. His English wasn't great, but his honesty was breathtaking. :)
