Eddie Mair | 13:44 UK time, Friday, 6 October 2006

Owen. Bit sweaty at end of long night.

Rosettes were odd back then. Michael Foot's was red, yellow and green. Peter Shore's is red and yellow. Vivid red tie though. I think Alan Beith was on set the entire night.

The woman said, "you can work this two ways - you either have 拢4 off, or you can get one of the 拢6.99 ones free." What cheek! I pointed out that wasn't really the way I was expecting it to work and just as I was about to about turn and march (haughtily, no doubt) out of the shop, she said she would given me both offers.

It's not the URL that I think John H is talking about, but the Title HTML tag - the text that appears right at the top of Explorer to identify the page, and also appears in the "Tab" if you're using a browser that supports tabbing like Firefox or Safari.

At the moment it's always "大象传媒 - Radio 4 - PM" regardless of the URL heading.

It would be nice and useful, but not knowing how difficult it would be to have a dynamic title tag, I can't say if it's worth the effort.

Apparently there are more October babies than any other. I wonder why? Maybe because prospective parents start trying in the new year? Or because there's not a lot else to do in January?

Ah, Fearless, I'll get you a cake - I'll leave it where we usually leave the sweeties. Have a think about what sort you want. Something with dark chocolate perhaps?

Awww thanks, Appy! I think dark chocolate may well be called for...

As for why there's mor October babies than other months, I'm not entirely sure. Still I think you might be on to something with the idea that in January, everyone is too skint to go out all the time, plus it's the coldest month of the year, so it's easier to stay home...

Re the ID thing (semi-serious now) I think it would be nice if we could register our nom-de-plumes that we use here, just to make sure that no-one can come along and pretend to be us. It's just a thought....

Frances O - Thanks for the 'grats'. Answer = TBlair (apparently I was the only one to think that the obvious answer was the right answer). Lord M said the tiebreaker hadn't come into it but, for what it's worth, I made a comment about the mice postcard thingey.

No more blogs from me this weekend - the sun's out and there's stuff to do.

OTL, Your tiebreaker was my favourite anyway. Let us know if Eddie scribbles anything interesting in the book?

Wow - well I gave up yesterday - it just got all far too confusing for my poor addled brain. Plus I've read this so fast that I'm not sure that I've taken it all in - anyway Bon Voyage to Anne, who most certainly won't be reading this if she goes today, Happy Birthday to Ap, Fearless, and Dr H when they fall, Get Well Soon Ap, and John W, sorry to hear about the spamming/cyberspace thing. As we are wrestling with our own Phishing prob at the moment, I commiserate. Any connection I wonder?

    Back later, must dash ---

Aperitif - Just to let you know I blushed when I read your posting. As to Eddie's scribbles - Diplomacy forbids me to comment at this point (if you get my drift!) I did get a lovely email from Lissa, though, so it looks as though I shall get the eagerly awaited volume in due course. Watch this space (or which thread seems appropriate at the time)
