In case you heard the report from Pakistan on The World at One on Wednesday, here are some photographs to illustrate it - and the story in a nutshell.
In Mianwali, in far west Punjab. the police believe they have broken up a Taleban cell. On Tuesday night they confronted seven suspects - 'miscreants', as they're called here; there was an exchange of fire, and five of the men escaped - but two were arrested. No one was hurt on either side. Two AK47 rifles, an RPG launcher and a signifiant quantity of explosives were seized.
The police chief - the DPO (District Police Officer) thinks the men were part of a cell planning to kidnap Chinese engineers working at a hydroelectric project on the Indus river near Mianwali - and receiving orders and advice from the Taleban high command in the frontier area.
The DPO, Lt. Col Akbar Nasir Khan, with Naji Habibullah, who was born in 1921. "We do not like the Taleban," said Mr.Habibullah, "Islam is a religion of peace".
The DPO with a group of aid co-ordinators, discussing a contingency plan for a camp near Mianwali for families displaced by the military operation against the Taleban in the Swat valley.

The point is (no pun intended) outlined by the Press Association: "People who suffer from lower back pain should get access to treatments including acupuncture and manual therapy, a health watchdog said today. The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (Nice) published new advice for those working in the NHS but admitted current access to the therapies varied across England and Wales. Key treatments recommended in the guideline include patients taking part in a tailored exercise programme for up to 12 weeks.

Why do we in Britain say lorry and our American friends say trucks? I'm sure someone knows the answer, but despite this being a field in Peterborough, these vehicles are undoubtedly trucks. Something, I think, to do with their brashness and sheer size.
Truckers are having a tough time at the moment - in contrast to nurses, as our reporter Michael Buchanan will tell us about on PM tonight - and some seem to be using their spare time to turn their vehicles into works of art.
Michael says the mood at this truck festival was uncertain about the future of their industry - although with the vast majority of goods in our homes and shops arriving by lorry (not truck), the industry is not going to disappear anytime soon.
On PM today Chris Vallance will take a look at the footers at the end of email; you know the kind of thing, the legal disclaimers which say things like:
"If you are not the addressee, any disclosure, reproduction, copying, distribution or other dissemination or use of this communication is strictly prohibited. If you have received this transmission in error please notify the sender immediately and then delete this e-mail."
That was at the end of an email from a swimming pool. Some of these footers can get very long and they waste a lot of paper when printed out (our office record currently stands at 11 pages of accumulated footers in one email exchange)
But do these legal notices actually serve any purpose? If you've an example of a particularly long winded, jargon filled and largely irrelevant email footer we'd like to hear from you.

Hello, me again.
Had an "exciting" night yesterday. Every Sunday I work from the ´óÏó´«Ã½'s Millbank studios and we present our programme, The Westminster Hour, from there at 10pm.
So there we were, beavering away last night when at 9pm - bang. The lights, computers, phones - everything - went out. Nothing. Huge power failure.
We had to make a snap decision to race over to Television Centre and present the programme from S1 - the studio from where PM/Today/Wato are all broadcast.
We work on the sixth floor at Millbank. The lifts weren't working and my editor last night is heavily pregnant. All added up to a bit of a challenging night!
Anyway, I think the only difference on air was that we had no Big Ben bongs. Just pips. Hopefully no-one noticed.

Took delivery of this £300+ contact grill from a well known manufacturer but the instructions are useless (no specific cooking instructions) and when I rang the manufacturers, the nice lady who answered had no idea? Would any of the PM Froggers have similar equipment and if so could they advise the best way to cook bacon? Lid down or up ? Looks too nice to use really and made in France? - Though the Internet tells me the company is British.

Labour have held onto a council seat in the Salford constituency of Hazel Blears, the Communities Secretary. Are you surprised? Relieved? Do you think Hazel Blears has been victimised over her expenses claims? Or do you think she deserves everything she's getting? How do you feel about the way that her friends suggest a political vendetta is being waged against her by number ten? They arrive at that view because of the full backing that has been given by the Prime Minister to two other Cabinet ministers - Geoff Hoon and James Purnell who are also reported to have paid no capital gains tax on London properties they sold.

I stand out in the crowd for wearing a bright green checked shirt. I
am alone among men for doing so. The system is to walk fast knowing

Polishing the British war memorial at the base in the desert which is now under US authority. 179 British dead since 2003. At least 3,500 Iraqi civilians have also died in the southern areas under British control. They have no memorial.
This dear little girl, Um al Benin, stepped into the ´óÏó´«Ã½ hire-van and looked around, and put on my headphones and listened to part of a poetry recital I'd recorded at the weekend at a Basra arts festival. At one point, the poet referred to the Shatt al Arab. Um al Benin pointed down the street, and said "The Shatt al Arab is down there"."
