Adebayor's started so well for Man City

Gillian Gibbons has been found guilty
I've just been listening to the news and the reaction - the British teacher in Khartoum has been found guilty after allowing her class to name a teddy bear Mohammed. We'll be talking about it on the programme tomorrow.
Sharon's Story - a Mexican Soap Opera
Remember Sharon, in labour when her husband collapsed? He was put in the bed she was supposed to be in to er have her baby..I asked if she'd post the whole story on the blog and she has...it's a literary masterpiece, fantastic. Thankyou Sharon...I particulary like the bit about having blue wee...
Who'd be a magistrate?
We've got a London magistrate coming on the programme on Wednesday who's going to give you an idea of just how difficult a job it can be.
So we thought we'd give you a couple of example cases and see what you would do. Have a read and let us know your decision - we'll reveal which option our magistrate took on the show.
Heard the one about the gay irishman?
After today's freedom of speech debate, tomorrow 3 comedians discuss the new law which would ban incitement of hatred against gay people; comedians because Rowan Atkinson thinks the proposed legislation has consequences for freedom of speech, humour and creativity.
Your Facebook
Lisa's message from Glasgow really moved me. We were talking about the Info Commissioner's warning not to give out too many personal details on your facebook and various other sites. Lisa said because of Bebo she can keep in touch with a brother who may or may not be aware of HER existence.
The Xmas Number 7
The Black Mountains want to get to Number 7 in the Xmas charts. The song they've written is called "Overplayed Song"... I promised them on air I'd link to their site from this blog, so here's me keeping my promise!
A word, Brian?
We are trying to get Brian Barwick, the chief exec of the FA on the show tomorrow to talk to England supporters.
He's the one who . We really want him to come on and talk to you directly - so I'll keep you posted on the blog as to how our bids are going. Watch this space!
Steve McLaren's sacking was the obvious topic for today's show - so we asked our listeners what they'd do to change the England team. How do we make sure England qualify for the World Cup in 2010?
We also spoke to Peter Shilton, Northern Ireland boss Nigel Worthington and our football correspondent Jonathan Legard...
Reaction on 606 has been pretty much the same all round: "now we may be able to play like a proper world class team and start winning, and not drawing with teams like Macedonia", says Stevesarmy, and he goes on to ask - who will replace him?
That is the question....
==AN UPDATE at 6:10pm==
Well, we've not heard anything from Brian yet, but we'll keep trying! In the meantime, make sure you cast your vote on who you think should replace McClaren - you can vote on the 5 live homepage.
==AN UPDATE at 8:30am Friday==
Still no word on Mr B. The phrase "don't hold your breath" is springing to mind.
Lost in the Post
This security breach involving the names, addresses and BANK DETAILS of millions of us receiving child benefit is extraordinary. I can't work out whether I need to be worried or not. Who's got the disc with all the data on, or has it been binned by accident? If you've noticed anything untoward going on with your bank account in the last 6 months, tell me what happened..
You can download your reaction - get the programme's podcast here
It's Tuesday, what shall we do at 9am?
It's one of those days where there's no major news or sport story that we can lead the programme with at 9. This probably happens a couple of times a week - and it becomes more difficult to guage what people (you) are talking about..
Please do this...
I urge you (yes, I do) to listen again or download the ex-wife and son of Ronald Castree who were on the programme today. It's available on my podcast page here.
He's the man who has begun a 30 year life sentence for the murder of the schoolgirl Lesley Molseed. Beverley and Nick spoke in a frank and moving way about the horror of living with a violent, drunk, perverted man who turned into a child murderer.
I heart Russell
It may be unwise to admit any kind of affection for a fellow ´óÏó´«Ã½ presenter you barely know, but I did love Russell Brand when I met him...
.
Kylie, Clare and me
A couple of weeks ago someone rang me up to see if I was "available" to take part in the celeb version of The Apprentice (for Children in Need or Comic Relief I think). Of course I was available, after my day job talking to you lot and then looking after the kids in the afternoon, yes I'd love to do it. So I think Clare Balding's doing it instead.
Kylie's on CIN on Fri night. When I'm feeling old I try to comfort myself by reminding myself (and those close to me) that I'm younger than Kylie... although I went to a dear friend's surprise 40th this weekend. It's hard to come to terms with the fact that I'm now attending birthdays where people say "How did I get to here, eh?".
Podcast Schmodcast
How many of you download podcasts? When would you? Just interested to find out..
That London 2012 stadium...
Well?
What do you think of it?
Here is what the 2012 Olympic Stadium is going to look like.
How would you describe it?
Thom gets in touch
We're following newly qualified teacher, Thom Dunn as he begins his first year in the profession. Find out more about Thom from his previous blog entry here
The last time we heard from Thom he had four weeks of teaching under his belt and was looking forward to the October half term break. Now he's back in school to complete the final half of the autumn term. Here's what he's been up to...
Brilliant. Made it. After the heat, the oasis of half term holidays was glorious. We’d earned it, staff and kids alike. One of my final lessons before the break was with a Year 7 class, in which I did an activity aimed at encouraging creative thinking skills: ‘if happiness was a shape, what would it be?’ What colour is a headache?’ That sort of thing. It got me thinking too – if teaching was an object what would it be? A relentlessly surprising jack-in-a-box sprung to mind. My half-term of teaching ended with a Year 9 lesson. The inevitable pressures of assessment deadlines meant that it was an essay-writing lesson and, even though the fatigue was palpable, they put their heart and souls into it; they did themselves (and me) proud.
Your Story..
I've just recorded an interview with a listener who works in a care home looking after young people. He is physically and verbally abused by some of the young peope he looks after every day ("go f*** yourself" is the norm, as is being attacked and spat at).
Listen to a clip of the interview here
Too much talk about children?
More often than not when we do stories about families/kids/parents (as we did a bit today) , we get a few emails from single people and those who don't have children saying "we don't care about your dribbling children, stop doing these kind of stories or you die".
Why is it that when something doesn't directly affect you then you're not interested?
Who'd be a police officer?
We ended up discussing the extreme and mundane aspects of a police officer's role on the show today. None of us would like to be in the position of a firearms officer following a potential suicide bomber onto a tube train.
Nor I suspect would we want to be in the shoes of PC Stuart Heaton and Inspector Tony Kenyon who spend most weekend nights being sworn at by drunk teenagers.
Our reporter Caroline Cheetham went out with them last week, after they invited us to record what their Friday night entails. (The audio contains some swearing).
Listen to her experience (requires RealPlayer)
Heather Heather Heather
You may have heard Heather Mills McCartney on the programme on Wednesday.
