Alan's Wilderness Years
Like John Lennon, that guy from Memento and Terry Waite, Alan had a 'lost weekend'. After his 182 day sojourn at the Linton Travel Tavern, things looked up for Partridge. He had, apparently, secured a five year contract with the 大象传媒. But Alan soon left the 大象传媒; 'bad blood' he claimed. He then started a production company that went into liquidation.
He was clinically fed up for two years and, worse, he put on a lot of weight and was physically repulsive to women. But at some point he got a grip and decided it was time to bounce back. A full account of this can be found in his Autobiography titled, Bouncing Back ( 'lovely stuff' - Shakin' Stevens ).
And Before That... Alan has made various appearances on TV in aid of a good cause and for special occasions. In 1997, for example, he appeared on the Election Night Armistice, reporting on the voting live from Norwich.
November the same year the man of chat was an interviewee, for a change, on Clive Anderson's All Talk. Read The Transcript.
Alan has helped out a number of times on . In 1995 he was attacked with pies and then debagged (that bit was not planned). In 1998 he appeared live from his Radio Norwich studio where he interviewed Bryan Ferry.
He also announced he was marrying a lady from Canada called Toni. Alan was confident she wasn't just after a work visa.
Comic Relief 2001 saw Alan at a boxing gym with some rather hostile youths. Alan ended up in the ring with one of the boys but didn't last very long.
Alan has also been seen dueting with Elton John at the 2000 comedy awards and giving a gong to All Saints at the Brit Awards.
