The League of Gentlemen
Reece Shearsmith, Mark Gatiss, Steve Pemberton and Jeremy Dyson met while studying drama at Bretton Hall in Wakefield, West Yorkshire.
The League of Gentlemen began life as a sketch show on the London fringe. After appearing at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 1996, they were signed up by the 大象传媒.
The world at large was first introduced to the inhabitants of Royston Vasey when the show aired on Radio 4 and promptly won a Sony Award.
In 2000, the show was broadcast on 大象传媒 TWO and quickly gathered a clutch of awards, coining the phrase, 'This is a local shop for local people.'
Characters like Barbara the transsexual taxi driver, Pauline Campbell-Jones of Job Club and Edward and Tubbs Tattsyrup proved a hit with comedy fans and the show won a BAFTA and many other awards.
Jeremy Dyson writes the show, but does not appear alongside Steve, Mark and Reece.
The third series of the show is set to air on 大象传媒 TWO this Autumn. Reece Shearsmith will also be appearing in a new black comedy set in a hospital, .
