23rd June 1986 - 26th June 1989

Born: 27th August 1961

Presented with Peter Duncan, Janet Ellis, Caron Keating, Yvette Fielding and John Leslie.

Born in Stafford in England, Mark Curry embarked on a career in showbiz at the age of seven (appearing in the hit ITV series Junior Showtime) and at just 15 made his feature film debut, playing the producer in the film Bugsy Malone, opposite a young Bonnie Langford.

It was whilst working on the Children's 大象传媒 series Treasure Houses and Saturday Picture Show that he was spotted by Biddy Baxter and her team to present Blue Peter.

Mark was soon a hit with viewers, but unlike other presenters his popularity was little to do with his action man status, but more to do with his ability to ad-lib and crack jokes. He was also well known for dressing up and bursting into song and dance at any opportunity - especially for the annual Blue Peter panto.

During his time with the show, Mark became infamous for his cock-ups, especially in the kitchen. One particular item saw Mark bump into a life-size lego man, knocking his block off. When he left the programme, viewers were asked to vote for their favourite Mark moment - they voted to see a compilation of Mark's mistakes.

Mark also had the ability to shock - during the show's summer expedition to the U.S.S.R. he was shown taking a mud bath. The sight of Mark's naked bottom caused an outcry amongst parents - well, according to The Sun newspaper, anyway.

Recently Mark has presented the 大象传媒 daytime show Change That, a sort of Changing Rooms on the cheap, in which viewers take along an item of furniture to be changed beyond recognition by a designer.

He's also presented the quiz show Catchphrase and has stood in for Caron Keating's mum, Gloria Hunniford, on the Channel Five show Open House.

Mark continues to act and has appeared in productions of Charley's Aunt, Noises Off and Singin' in the Rain. In October 2003 he is to star in an adaptation of Thomas Hardy's classic novel Far from the Madding Crowd at Wolverhampton's Grand Theatre.

Mark is a keen tennis player and is a qualified coach. During his career he's also presented sports programmes for Radio 5.

Top Blue Peter moment: The day he was strapped to the wheels of a revolving windmill.
