Kim, Torquay.
There is NO doubt in my mind about the talents of front man Kris Barras from who'z in the room with norman?
A new lead singer, HA! no way i for one go to watch w.i.t.r.w.norman to here Kris sing, i LUV his voice. There would be no who'z in the room with norman? with out Kris singing! There is no question about it they will be massive if they keep persevering.
Norman? you ROCK!
Anon, Devon.
Sean i cant disagree with you more! I have been a fan of 'norman?' since they started out and as a regular at gigs i have seen them develop as musicians and develop tremendously as a band. As for Kris he gets more talented each time i watch him. Obviously he is in a league of his own with his guitar playing but also his voive has got better and better. From remembering what he sounded like a few years ago to the other night in Mojo's he has gone from strength to strength with his voice.
A few gigs back i closed my eyes and herd a touch of bonjovi in him, i think he has no probs what so ever and to replace him as a singer would be a catastrophe!
John, Torquay.
'Sean' I disagree with you on that one. I think Kris's voice is great!, yeh fair enough not the best possible voice in the world, but prety dam good in my opinion. Also i really like there own material, some of the guitar solos are awesome! However i do prefer there new stuff more, as i feel this is more grown up. who'z in the room with norman? would be nothing with out Kris and his voice, it brings a rustic feel to the songs, nor would who'z in the room with norman be who they are with another singer! It just wouldn't be wright. I do agree with the fact they need better song lyrics but i feel this comes with experience and what Kris is only 19!so i think there is great potential there. I think the key to their success is to carry on being dedicated and become more widely known. Torquay is a hard place to make it and when it comes down to it very few succed.
Obedientbone
Hey all!
Obedientbone are playing at Airfusion Festival, Courtney Park, Newton Abbot this Friday (22nd July) from 9pm - 10pm.
Check out our band page on Devon Demos for a new download of our latest single "AWARE"....)
sean torquay
the norman are a fantastic live act.kris the frontman is a superb entertainer.the problem they have is their own material is very weak.kris is limited to what he can achieve as a singer because of his voice.however if they were to employ a singer/songwriter then who would be the frontman?their dilemma.perhaps a girl.
Paddy Exeter
Hey at last a Vinnie gig see you there guys hopeits as good as ive heard so far, see you tommorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Old Git from Torquay
Im a massive fan of the fantastic whoz in the room.... However i can only seem to get info about their gig dates from here! Think you need lots more promotion for your band. Getting a web site is good but only people who know and have seen the band before will know of the web site. You should definately get posters out, they have them everywhere in Exeter and its becomming more popular in Torquay now. Its all about getting your sound and out there and you guys have a GREAT sound! Also would be great to here you have more gigs not just in Torquay but in Exeter, Bristol, London etc because once your talents are herd a bit more wide spred, i personally dont think there will be any stopping you!
Best of luck guys, see you at your next gig.
Mat, Exeter.
Hello, im inquiring into wether 'norman?' play only in the torquay area. Would be great if you could do some gigs in Exeter, herd the drummer is from Exeter get him to sort it out!

Jane Devon
Hello, I would just like to say I really enjoyed listening to Astra Dolphin - great demo, not enough comments on her though. This girl is cool, visit her website too.
Jef, Torbay.
Saw a really good young band on that campaign thing in torquay sea front think they were called livin in a valve state but they were really good they must of been no older than 16 great potential! Also saw the great 'norman?' totally stole the whole event, superb playing by the master guitarist Kris Barras! Excellent stuff!!
Aly, Torquay.
Went to see who'z in the room... at the campaign for drinking etc on sat they were awesome, absolutly blown away yet AGAIN!! The lead singer guitar player gets better and better everytime i see him play, you rock dude!
Also saw a young band on at the start called livin in a valve state they were really good considerin their age and played much better than the act after them who were grown men! Well done guys, and norman? keep on rockin wana see you famous soon!
John. Tqy.
hi there i went to see whoz in the room with norman? on saturady and they were excellent, as usual. Kris was awesome and i luv it when he walks out in the crown and in the water fountain!! was a cool set, shame they weren't on for longer. Cant wait to see you again, you rock!
Peanut!
Norman? ROCK the best band in the bay by FAR!!!!!!!

peter, bideford
Just discovered Bow Jenkins and had a good look and listen at her website... amazin! Awesome! What can i say? Is rthere a gig list comin? i love that voice, those words, that face!!!!
Lyal, Torbay.
Would just like to leave a msg for Kris from whoz in the room with norman? I think you are fantastic, and extremely talented. Obviously this is something you have worked very hard for as the standard that you play at is what we would expect of a 30yr old or there about. Credit to you young sir you have everything the music industry should be looking for. You really make the band and i hope you get the credit you rightly deserve! Best of luck.
Rich, Paignton.
I think w.i.t.r.w.norman? are fantastic, such talented chaps, but they never seem to gell well together. Their music playing is great and they play awesome together in that respect but as far as conecting on stage there is nothing.why is this?can anyone say?
Daisy, Devon
'Emma/Brixham' the music festival will be starting at 2pm this comming saturday and will finish at aprox 8-9pm. It will be held out side the Princess Theatre in Torquay. Who'z in the room with norman? are on at 5pm till 6pm and if you cant get enough after that the lead guitarist/singer Kris will be doing a solo gig later on at another venue. Thanks alot hope to see loads of ya there givin your support!
P.s 'Gary' regarding the spinning wheel gig well said spot on dude.
Tom, Torquay.
RE: who'z in the room with norman gig 2/07/05 spinning wheel.
Dont no wat song it was weather it was covered or your own material but it had a more jazzier feel to it, jay sang it, and very well might i add and it was awesome i absolutely loved it. The guitar sounded wicked, so tight and its great to see you have diversity in your playing would love to see more of that style. Great stuff lads, well impressed! Had a wicked night, thanks.
Gary, Paignton
Who'z in the room with norman? were fantastic loved every second. These three young lads have so much talent, and the front man what can i say that you havent herd before many a times i suspect- you are an absolutely amazin guitar player. Cant say ive EVER seen someone your age with quite so much enthusiam and raw talent! I think ALL of you have the world at your feet and to be called unsigned is a masive loss for the music industry and unjust when we have amazin talent and potential all time great musicains right here in the bay whilst the music industry packs out this fake manufactured music we seen on our tv screns in the likes of Mcfly and the thankfully former busted!!!
Anyway im off my soap box now, good luck guys i truly hope you make it, great gig!!!
Daisy, Devon.
Who'z in the room with norman? you ROCK!! Blown away yet again by the gig last night at the spinning wheel. Cant believe how much you have improved AGAIN! I herd you like a month ago at Appleby's and you were awesome but last night you seemed to step up a gear. Kris you were playing so tight last night, and a wicked solo the best so far by Will. Also oh my god! the jazzy song of your own was SO cool jay sounded great and the guitar was awesome! There is no end to all of your talents, your diversity and ability to play a great range of styles. Finally was great that the place was packed couldnt move an inch but it was all good! Loved from start to finish, anyone who hasnt seen Norman? get 'n see em they are quality!
Great gig guys keep it up cant wait for the next instalment! Thanks daisy.x.
emma, brixham

Firstly i absolutly love this site its so cool to here the local talent! And Devon sure is producing some amazing artists and bands!! Also wondering when it will be possible to vote for the people, for the south west music awards!?
Finally, as a fan of Who'z In The Room With Norman? i have nothing but great things to say about them, however thanks to 'Norman?' becomming a devon demo act i how now been introduced to some other talented bands and solo artists. I think the likes of Jodie Jones, Bow Jenkins, Stephenson's Rocket and Instinct have great potential. Good luck guys, and Who'z In The Room With Norman? your fantastic, extremely talented musicians you ROCK!
Daisy, Devon.

Have seen a few gigs and i they have blown me away every time. Just wanted to say that Zenn were brilliant, brilliant, brilliant at the cavern last night, best show i've seen in ages - even tho a string broke!! They were even better than Dopamine and that's saying something cos i loved Dopamine first! xxx
Adam, Torquay
Just wanna say why arent who'z in the room with norman signed already??!! Really impressive guys. Been to several gigs and they just blow me away. Excellent musicians. Dont miss seein them live.
becky paignton
rob,I went along to see you last night at the half moon and was knocked out.Everyone around me was amazed by your voice. To sit there with just a guitar and a mic and fill the room with such a sound ,tremendous.I am a Muse fan and I have never heard anyone attempt to play Unintended and when you announced it as your next song you said you were taking a risk ,no risk at all.It was spot on.Although it pains me to say this your voice is better than Matts. Thanks for playing 'the sadist'it sounded great on accoustic.Lastly I overheard what Mark the owner said to you at the end of the night and I agree totally .Thanks rob and thanks devon demos.
Kim from torquay
hey, whoz in the room with norman are completely wicked, came 2 c u in applebee's the other sunday and i thought u were amzin!!! wat is your website address cuz i reli wanna go on it, so can sum1 plz tell me!

Hi all, just to let you know that Obedientbone will be featured in a short film to promote Devon Demos, on the 大象传媒 Big Screen in Plymouth City Centre next week.
Take a look at for the details.
:-)
Mally, Cheshire
Tom Kerswill has a unique, almost delicate voice, but sings with an inner strength which makes every song sound like it is sung with genuine conviction, which I suspect it probably is.
That description almost perfectly matches the songs themselves. Delicate but with an inner strength - not to mention some very catchy and memorable tunes. I'm lucky enough to have a copy of the new EP ("My Mind's Eye"), and I find myself singing lines from Tom's songs at the most unexpected moments, and the songs just grow stronger and stronger with every listen.
Tom's been working with Devon composer Tunerise on the EP, and the collaboration works really well, with subtle instrumentation adding just the right amount in the right places to ensure great arrangements without ever threatening to dominate or overpower. No sign of Tunerise in the Devon Demos section yet, but anyone interested can search the internet for Tunerise and hear a selection of MP3s including Sofra (my favourite).
I'm familiar with Tom's work via Tunerise, but I'd like to think that Tom will be making a name for himself outside sunny Devon before too long. He's certainly got a fascinating and unique style waiting to be discovered.
Amie, Devon.
who'z in the room with norman? ROCK!! they are wicked absolutley love the bassist he is awesome and a good singer aswell! and also lead guitarist FAST FINGERS!! dude you rock. best of luck guys.
Rob Swann
Hello Beach Master, as it happens, I'm supporting Stipe (R.E.M. tribute) at The Half Moon on Friday, check my web site for other dates. Thanks for the opportunity to plug myself!
The Beach Master
I really like Rob Swann
Thought the vocals were excellent.
Any chance of a gig in Paignton
kelly uffculme
i love jodie i lived in the same street as her for about 7 years and she is a great singer too
Sarah, Exeter
Westcott and Rodway are amazing! Their new sound of jamenco is so effective, each song was so different and powerful. To see these guys playing is something else, I have never seen anything like this before!!! They will soon be huge!!!
Jamie From Brighton
I saw Obedientbone a few weeks ago and they are bloody awesome. Great band live
David, Exeter
Westcott and Rodway- thankyou so much for the show on June 9th, it was an absolute pleasure to hear and watch you play your instuments. You will soon have the worlds attention
sara from exeter
hello to all the musicians on this site. i have been following this site for the last few weeks and see that there is quite alot of bikering between bands and fans. why not host a live event over a weekend in aid of a charity where all the bands can get together and the exeter crowds can vote for themselves. i admire all of the bands in devon for being creative some are not as good as others, some dont have the same equipment. let me know what u think and ill be watching this site.....
Fred from Exeter
Seen Rob Swann perform live on a few occasions, cannot understand why he hasn't yet been signed. great new talent deserves much more exposure.
Claire - Torquay
Got given a flyer yesterday for Club Moloko (the old Beach Club/void) apparently they are putting on bands now - are any of the bands on here booked up to play there?
Christopher, Exeter
I have to say that the NEW sound of Westcott and Rodway is quite brilliant. The combination of the piano and flamenco guitar is excellent, and each song had such variation. To see the two lads play was an absolute treat, without a doubt the hottest act in Devon.
Rob, Bristol.
ok Patric, Vinnie are ok, drumms sound out of time to me and very basic. The demo was just average for me im afraid. However obviously it is hard to judge a band on one demo, this demo was just nothing special for me. Thanks and good luck.
Patrick from wolves
Can we have some 'VINNIE' feedback please. they dont seem to have much here. thanks
jj devon
are rodway and westcott on this site do they have a demo? coz i thought only people with demos on here can recieve comments, which i think in fair enough and should be stuck to!
Among a few on this site i like stephenson's rocket and i absolutlty love who'z in the room with norman? was greatly introduced to them through this site and what i talented, funky, fresh band they are. Best of luck to them and everyone else also.x
Reply from host Yes, Adam Westcott does have a page on this site and you can find it
;-)
Lee, Devon.
Astra Dolphin, nice name and cool sounds be checking out more info on you - best of luck, need more like you.
Lucy, Exeter
I must disagree with craig and stevens opinion on the exeter music scene(see below). Furthermore my opinion was firmly endorsed by the unanimous consensus of my companions, all of which play and appreciate music. Therefore I can state with confidence that if Westcott and Rodway and friends typify exeter musicians, then the exeter music scene is extremely healthy and fortunate
sophie, exeter
westcott and rodway are superb!!!
Gary Newton Abbot
I could not agree more with James(below)who has summed the evening up perfectly.I would like to say how touching and soulful the vocals came across and i'm not suprised there were a few ladies wiping their eyes (previous comment).Westcott and Rodway not only demonstrated how musical instruments should be played from a technical point of view, but how music can sound when packed full of emotion, enjoyment and soul.
To answer Marianne from Dartmouth as to "who was who?" there is a clue on the "Devon Demos" part of this site and even an early track.
Good luck to the lads, they deserve to do well (looking forward to the CD?)
Mark From Torquay
Just to let all of the people who have enjoyed listening to the Stephensons Rocket demo, we have a gig at The Palace Bridgewater on Thursday 16th June. The band have also changed their name due to feedback from record labels in the US. The new name is VITRIOLIC. The new web site will be ready soon. Will let you all know then. Cheers
mandy plymouth
saw the controverstial COMEG last night at the phoenix.Must say that they were brilliant. The sound was new and very intimate. the first song was a bit odd but i think that the band sorted it after that.
Keep on rocking lads cant wait to see you at the well house on the 23rd
james, exeter
I too was at the Phoenix show on June 9th, and I thought the first two groups were ok. The young lady on piano and vocals was very good, relaxing and easy listening. But when two young lads walked out on to headline I was absolutely stunned. They were OUTSTANDING. The piano playing and guitaring was world class. Their songs were beautifully created. Westcott and Rodway have arrived, and it's only a matter of time before a major label picks them up.
steven from exmouth
saw the gig at the phoenix then other day..must agree it wasnt very good.fair play for getting up and doing it but this is as craig says...the typical dreary music that is produced from this part of the land. why are all the best bands from up north??
and before anyone says anything coldplay were good on parachutes the next 2 were exactky the same...joss stone....sounds the same and has a very annoying voice muse are ok but again they arent exactly as famous as oasis or the beatles......lets get south western bands noticed there are fantasitic acts around
Steve, Exeter
Westcott and Rodway are superb! I saw them at the Phoenix on 9th June, and was blown away. Looking forward to their next show
Craig, Exeter
I too saw the Music Angel Concert and I thought it summed up the Exeter music scene quite brilliantly. Dull, lifeless and sterile. No wonder the local newspapers have to adopt the likes of Coldplay, Joss Stone, Muse and any other successful musician with the most tenuous link to the city, because Exeter will never create its own with its formulaic approach to everything artisitic.
The Music Angel
Dear Host,
You are frequently called upon to uphold the ethos of your site as a forum for free expression of opinion on local musicians and their work. Nothing illustrates this better than the last four messages regarding the gig at the Phoenix Exeter on Thursday evening featuring Westcott and Rodway. Three respondents expressing genuine appreciation of the natural abilities of Westcott and Rodway and their overall enjoyment of the event. Whereas Dan from Exeter offering a totally opposite perspective. It typifies the subjective nature of the music business. One person's passion is another person's distaste.
Interestingly, the Wurzels may not be everyones taste in music but they have made millions and are still greatly in demand, far exceeding the life of their amplified contempories who have long since disappeared into the ether.
marianne dartmouth
westcott and rodway, music was so cool, they look really fit, but they could have said a bit more, who was who???
Janet exeter
My mates and I want to join the westcott and rodway fan club. they are brill
Lucy Exeter
After seeing Rodway and Westcott perform in Exeter I must commend them not only on producing such an exciting new blend of vibrant music, but also on their skill and ability to convey it to a very mixed audience. Congratulations to all concerned, and with talent like this coming through, the U.K. music industry will continue to lead the world for another generation. Well done everyone.
John Devon
Westoctt and Rodway's 'New' style and sound Jamenco is brilliant, I was lucky enough to catch them on Thurday 9.6.05 at the Phoenix Theatre Exeter. They will blow you away with their music, I noticed some females in the audience wiping their eyes with emotion, you could not fail to be moved by the passion that they projected. This new sound by Westcott and Rodway is sensational. Is this music available on cd?
Ray from Totnes
Saw Westcott and Rodway and friends at Exeter Phoenix on Thursday. They were excellent, I thoroughly enjoyed the evening. Lets hope there's another one soon.
dan from exeter
went to the gig at the phoenix last night....you didnt miss much i would rather listen to an album from the wurzles. this music was dull and life less. maybe they should plug in and pit some life into it...and the dound man was pants
Kris from Norman?

Came home to Cornwall for the weekend and went to see REDHOUSE at the Rashleigh in Charlestown (4/6). The whole place loved them and they are all have talent and charisma. Their blues reminded me of the Bellrays and Lisa Kekula. I highly recommend seeing them live and wish them luck for the future!
Music Awards, SW
Just to let everyone know that this year the South West Music Awards have been set up. Nominate your favourite acts from the Devon Demos site!
Mr . PJ
hi all, would just like to say 'whoz in the room with norman?' back fresh from America and ready for their first gig at Appleby's sunday night, miss it, miss out!
P.s new guys stephonson's rocket are pretty cool.
Leah from New York
Totally agree with Nails... Bow is entirely loveable! I found her stuff when I heard her on a radio show in Detroit when I was visiting family, and I looked her up right away! She not only sings with the soul of a much older woman (had i not seen her pic i would have thought she was about 40 and black!) but she definately has the looks to win many hearts too! If she doesn't get signed soon then I don't know what's wrong with people today! The song on this site doesn't do her justice though, it's her other songs like 'Say Goodbye' 'Walk Away' and 'I Remeber' that she really hits a nerve. And being a New Yorker myself I know that 'Wish Him Back' is definately a winner! The only thing is that she could be easily compared with Joss Stone (being blonde and living in Devon, and sounding black)but then again I've got a feeling she's got a bit more attitude, soul and hunger for it than Joss... Time will tell, but you should definately check her out! I wish you all the luck in the world Bow! Love to all! xxx
Dee, Paignton
guys, you have to check out zenn's new recordings on their web site- especially 'show yourself'...these recordings are in a totally different legue to their one on this site.

Love Bow Jenkins. Listened to her demo, and checked out her website, and heard some other stuff she's done... and I have to say she is the business! Really something for our time... a bit more sassy and soulful and thought provoking than most other females with beautiful voices, she isn't just soothing us into a relaxed state, but making us taste something more... a real art! I really get off on her music and voice and lyrics. And she is still sooo young! If Devon doesn't fall at her feet, I know a certain city that just might!!!
Adam, Exeter
WHY are my comments being edited. TWO of the four acts on this site will be appearing at the Phoenix Centre in Exeter on June 9th, and there for it is helping to promote their music, surely the purposse for this website. Westcott and Rodway, Tom Kerswill
Mr.P
I think who'z in the room with norman? are bloody awesome!! Their gripping energetic performances are wicked and do not by a shadow of a doubt over power their ability to play their instruments. They can easily hold a crowd's attention playing covers or originals (which are very good by the way and i feel they should consider playing gigs consisting purely of originals as there is no weakness here) This band deserve much success and still being unsigned is such a tragedy to the music industry.
giles from exeter
third time lucky why cant you let people decide what they want to comment about this should be a free forum for people to discuss their views on the bands THEY like not to be told what they can contribute and what music THEY like.Give in devon demos listen to COMEG!
Reply: Thanks for your comments, Giles. Comeg are as welcome as any other band to contribute to this site. Unfortunately after sending their demo a few years back, they then decided to withdraw their application, as is their prerogative. As already stated in a recent reply, this message board is for commenting about unsigned acts that are on this site, not a free for all those who aren't. Cheers

I love stephenson's rocket cant hear the demo enough, you guys rock!

Just read the write-up about The Morrisons - it's great to hear they're still together after all these years. I interviewed them for my fanzine ("Jump Away")in 1987, shortly after I moved down to Devon from London. And they took me to a Torquay Utd football match to boot! Great fun. My ex-partner (Simon Williams) who I co-wrote the fanzine with, went on to become one of the NME's top journalists, before leaving to set up the infamous Fierce Panda record label. I often wonder what I'd be doing now, had I stayed in London too. But then I would never have met the Morrisons! They're still sounding great 18 years on. Take care, and keep on making great music - I'll be looking out for your gigs! xx
Nadia, Devon
As far as the Norman?'s demo goes its very good the bass is wicked. BUT, they are a band you deffinately have to see live. They perform mostly covers which are awesome they really are, and they play their hearts out every time. However, now with all these new original songs they have put into their gigs i have to say they are even better and have proved that they can write and produce amazin songs of their own. I have much respect for these guys, putting out your own music is very hard but they have strolled into it with no care in the world or so it seems and i must say it goes down extremely well at gigs, and i think they should start thinking about gigs consisting of nothing but their originals coz they got it there its just getting it out to the public.
Anyway thanks a lot, last gig at the spinning wheel was the best so far was great by the way, keep up the amazin work you'l go far if you work for it.
Laura. Paignton
Really like stephenson's rocket, think the vocals are cool. Good luck.x
Bella, From Brixham
NORMAN? you rock!
Excellent demo, the bass is awesome!!
Keep rockin so i can here ya on the radio one day.
Adam, Torquay
Would just like to say how amazin whoz in the room with norman? are. Loved them from the first time i herd them and they sure have come along miles since first starting. With the new band menbers, which have been there a while now its wicked! The front man lead guitarist has something to work with because the other two members are as equally as good musicians so the skys the limits for these young guys. After hearing a few of the new originals at the past few gigs they are set for some amazin things, they were awesome and very catchy too! If you want a band with energy, passion and bags of talent the music industry need look no further. I really hope they get the break they rightly deserve and anyone who has seen norman? and are a fan no that they are absolute legends. Really hope they produce a albam that portrays their brillience, pure talent and love for music.
Best of luck guys, rock on dudes!

Saw Stephenson's Rocket a couple of years ago at 'Air Fusion' festival (Think I played the same year!). They were excellent then! So good luck, keep it up...

I met Phil Wildman during a trip to Cancun, he is a very intellectual guy, I really enjoyed the short time I was with him. He told about his band so I looked it up and when i heard his music I found it original and with a very unique style. I do wish him and his band the greatest luck and their hopes and dreams to come true. I will wait for your songs on the greatest hits number one!!!

Reply to Vanessa: Hiya, no I'm not signed with a record company, so far I've done everything independantly - that includes all interviews and promotion, all gigs (including supporting Van Morrison!) and releasing my debut album - 'All Dressed Up'. I can't say it isn't hard work, but I do love it!
