Message for Rob Swann:We were all amazed by your performance at The Lime Tree on saturday and we will all be there plus a few more of us on saturday afternoon and evening at the bikefest.Ive seen Muse live and your rendition of Unintended was better than theirs. I hope its in your set for saturday.

Dan from Devon
Astra Dolphin's music is pleasing to my ears. Her songs are very moving just listen to the lyrical content, what an excellent young songwriter. Astra seems to have a lot of support behind her from this site, which is great.

Acoustic Act Wanted ASAP
Hello there, Sorry that this isn't a comment about a band - I emailed the site and they said I should post here, so here goes! I am organising the 2006 UK tour for leftfield all female acoustic band Invocal (www.invocal.co.uk) and have a date at The Barnfield Theatre, Exeter on Monday 31st July. We are hoping to find a local acoustic solo/ duo act with original and interesting material to support the band for this show. The tour coincides with a national promotions campign (magazines, radio etc) so it would be a good opportunity for an up and coming artist to gain some widespead exposure, in terms of publicity for the date. Email uneventour@invocal.co.uk if you are interested. Hope to hear from you - thanks!

sue from weymouth
fosta i thought they were good can only get better good luck to them

Hello how are we? Astra Dolphins music burns thru my soul like a forest fire that rages thru me. Astra....ure hot and so is ure music xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Sam, Devon
Astra Dolphin is great live as I've seen her perform many times, I get what you mean james... If you check her website she is playing in London soon and also at some festivals this summer.

James, Tavistock
Hi, Did anyone catch Astra live at Mary Tavy Tavistock, had to wait a while before Astra came on stage but it was well worth the wait - a great performance, and Astra sure stood out above all the rest - excellent songs, all original which gains respect as the majority of the other performers played covers which became rather tedious after a while! If you ever get a change to see 'Astra Dolphin' live you'll see what I mean... you can tell by her tracks on her website that she is an artist to watch out for...

Linny frm Plymouth
'Get it right' by Leon.... yup you've got def got it right :-)... well done, great tune...

Bev from Plymouth
Burn-What a fantastic band. They didn't really need to mention the fact that they liked Freddie. I think we can tell! The singer sounds so much like him and the music is very atmospheric. I think that they could be the group to fill the hole that was left when Freddie died. I wish them all the success that they deserve.

Benzies, Devon
mya is great, ive met dave morris talked and im interested in joining, i play bass and i like the funky side a things soo cool! insane voice!!!!

john paignton
my local has been playing Rob Swann's 'Can I Have A Gig' c.d.through their P.A. What a voice you have there Rob.'Care Free'should be released as a single its very classy and I'd love to hear anyone else try to sing it.I have a strange feeling you'll not be dropping c.d.s into little places like this for much longer.Good luck Rob.

Jodie Jones
Hiya! Just to let everyone know I have a new design website at www.jodiejones.com, where you can also go to my NEW myspace, with comments, pics and music clips! Thanks, Jodie x

Dude from livin in a valvestate
i would just like to say im in a band called living in a valvestate and have guitar lessons from Kris Barras from who'z in the room with norman? He is a complete role model of mine and inspired me to play guitar. His band is totally awesom and should go really far, but if not Kris will on his own. Anyone who is looking for lessons Kris has his own guitar school and i highly recommend lessons with him he is a great tutor. I dont think 'valestate' would be as well known if it wasnt for him. Anyone who hasnt seen Kris play please go watch him, he will make you want to take up guitar or in my case go home and not be able to put the thing down for hours. Thanks for being a great inspiration Kris! p.s i really liked stephenson's rocket havnt herd much from them tho.cheers

Clare from London
Leon - what a fantastic song. Hopefully let's hear it on a London radio station soon!

Lauren from Devon
Hey, this is for Mya, just sang with you on Tuesday in Paignton and heard someone say you were on here, so thought I'd take a look. You should definitely put more songs up, love your voice! *Lauren* "I'm not gonna sing Pop just because I'm white with blonde hair!"

Jen from Gloucester
There is some really good music on this site but in my opinion 'BURN' are far, far beyond the standard of all the bands listed that i have listened to. Take some time to check them out. In terms of Musicality, originality, technical ability and quality of production, they are on another level.

Mike Northampton
Just wanted to put a shout to Zenn. Having not been able to see them for a while, I'm really looking forward to their upcoming gig on 5th April at Route 66, Torquay (still can't quite believe that one!) It will be great to hear their new material, and if 'Disco' is anything to go by, it should be a storming set. Good luck guys.

Luke from London
Eagerly awaiting Leon's demo! Good luck!

Pete, Central London
Jodie Jones has it!

Lee
Did you know that you can now purchase all of Astra Dolphin's albums via her website?

Pete, Plymouth
Dale Dalwish, I don't agree with you. Yes, there are several bands/artists on here that are well worthy of comments, Like Astra Dolphin, Jodie Jones, Comeg & Rob Swann for example... If comments come from friends & relations well so be it. I personnaly think that Astra Dolphin is one of the most interesting & talented artists, I'm only expressing my opinion before everyone starts to say who their most talent act/artist is! Thanks.

henna
katie marie is def. the best on here ever - im into death rock myself, but her song's caught my attention

Dale, Dawlish
God what a load of pathetic drivel you people post here! There are several bands/artists on here that are well worthy of comments, sadly all the space is used up by childishly sickly comments by friends/relations of the least talented people on here. No wonder it puts people off posting REAL feedback. Ones to watch are Rob Swann,Adam Westcott,Hombres Impossible,Pipeline, Stephenson's Rocket, Comeg,Soft Toy Heroes and The Climb.

florence from morocco

Astra Dolphin's songs on her website are cool, catchy tunes. Watching Over Me, Dreaming, Take Me, Empty Spaces and I'll Show You are my favorites at the moment, she has such a different style. I think the music industry needs artist like Astra?

It's brilliant being able to check out all these bands. I'm a big fan of CQB and have got'Midfielder', 'XXXX' and 'Dog's Dinner' cds. They're all really good. Lots of tunes you can't get out of your head and clever and funny lyrics too. Good luck to them and all the other bands on this site.

sarah from devon
i think mya johnsons song is great what a fantasic voice good on you girl. when can i buy it? x

Don from Exeter
Awesome sounds from the artist Leon. I like very much.

Lucy from nr Sydney
Every song that KATIE MARIE sings is awesome. Really diverse. My favourite is still Mirror I love all the different versions of this song Katie has done.

Laura and Bleiry, Torquay
We think PIPELINE are fantastic. We love the way they play their gigs and the atmosphere is unreal. Can't wait to see them again although we dont think they should be playing at the Folphin, way too small and crammed in. You deserve a bigger place to allow for bigger crowds. See you at Applebys!!! x

TOAD, South London
Hey if you like Jodie Jones look on her myspace, I just found it and there are clips and you can become her 'friend' and comment and stuff - its www.myspace.com/jodiejonesmusic . I'm also luvin Astra Dolphin, v original voice well done astra!

Roland, Plymouth/Shepherds Bush
Afternoon folks, This is a plea on behalf of the band ELEVEN (Barnstaple) who are looking to do more gigs throughout the Westcountry before their tour in May. If anyone from anywhere other than North Devon would like to do a gig-swap with ELEVEN or just have them play at your local venue please email me at pr@ravenous.fsbusiness.co.uk - thank you for your time and keep up the good work! Roland

Toni, Devon
Enjoying the sound of Astra Dolphin - excellent songs. Keep up the good work.

Dale from Plymouth
Just listened to Rob Swann's track - its good stuff mate - u got a distinctive voice and it definitely stands out from the crowd. The lyrics are meaningful aswell - not the usual rubbish a lot of signed bands are chatting about. Keep up the good work and get some giggage goin down here in Plymouth!

Rob Swann
Thanks for the message Leah, I spend a lot of time on the lyrics to my songs so it's nice to hear compliments about them. I've put another email address up on my site now so hopefully people will reach me one way or another!

Leah Exeter
A message to Rob Swann . The last line of 'Bullied'from your website makes the hairs stand up on the back of my neck. Thats not happened in years. I think I understand the story you're telling us in 'A closer view' too .I've tried to send this message to your e.mail address but I must be doing something wrong.Keep going Rob you've got what it takes.

Jacy from Plymouth
I think jodie jones song is brilliant, shes really talented, if you are able to play the piano, sing and write your own songs you have something special! Well done :D

pip.bude.
I just listened to Bow Jenkins new tracks and I am seriously wowed! I am really impressed and want to see her live...I Like rob swan too... must be something in the devon water!

Jodie Jones ROX -does she have a website???

Jake from Devon
Astra Dolphin ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jim, Devon
I see COMEG is now a solo act. It will be interesting to see how good the new album sounds when it is released next week.

M, Devon
Hi, I saw the article on Astra Dolphin in the paper, she sounds great and I've just checked out her site she has so many links. Astra's music is great very original, really enjoying it. A new star is rising... Thanks.

James from Bishopsteignton
I liked Rob Swanns music, he has a brilliant voice. I saw his article in the paper, and went onto his website, it's definatly worth a look!! he's going to be big!!

Courtesy, Oatman
Listened to Carnaby for the first time. I didnt think much of it, as it was sold to me as being a rock band, but Id say theyre a boy band. It was all very trite, samey, but book gigs in youth clubs and market as a boy band and they could be on their way. Is Chris, who constantly posts this site, The Chris, from Carnaby, I wonder.

Jules, Devon
Hi all, I thought I'd let you know that this week sees the release of the second download single from 'Astra Dolphin'. The track is called 'Watching Over Me' - It's a mixture of Pop with a Reggae twist! To Show your support for this Devon artist visit Astra's website on her artist page for links to her release. Or Google'Astra Dolphin' and that will lead you to more details. Thanks.

Jan from Dartington Community Centre
Hi everyone, I've been listening to all your demos. If anyone would like to do a gig at our centre and go halves on the ticket sales or you need somewhere to practice or do your first gig, please feel free to contact me janholland@btopenworld.com

azz, tqy
really enjoyed watching Kris Barras's solo gig at Ej's a few weeks ago, ive herd him with his band and must admit he can pull it off very well with out them too. The best solo artist gig ive seen in a while. Keep up the rockin dude, you'l make it some day im sure!

Dee, Devon
Astra Dolphin's is excellent. Really enjoying reading the comments on her. I think Astra left the best impression on the Devon Demos show. What Touching music...

pip newton abbot
Devon Demo act Rob Swann features in the local paper in south Devon this week. The feature is in the Herald Express in the 'Lowe Down' column. If you get a chance, take a look at the photos (both in the feature and on Rob's own website). They are by Alec Munro of Kingsteignton. He's a young photographic genius.

Harry from Exeter
Bow Jenkins was the star of the show for the day after boxing day!!!! she is great!!!!

tom, carmarthen
zenn why on earth didnt you tune your instruments? it sounds so horrible, im sick of bands that cant be bothered to tune aaaaaagh

Wendy, Exeter
Just reading an earlier comment about links to Band's websites. When I sent in COMEG's cd for inclusion on here I gave you the website address which has never been included. I have also posted on here with the website address which somehow got edited. I wonder if you could tell me why?
REPLY: Hi Wendy, unfortunately - at the time we checked - the website contained some offensive lanquage which meant it did not pass the 大象传媒's guidelines for linking to external sites. John (Host)

Adam, Exeter
Hi there, I purchased a copy of Astra Dolphin's latest album. A great mix of Pop, rocky, folk songs. Instead of questioning how artists are getting somewhere go out and buy their albums. That's what surely means the most to them. I got my copy through her website links and recomend it if you are interested in supporting New Music. Thanks.

Tom Kerswill
Hi! Just thought I'd wish everyone on the site a happy 2006. It's great hearing all the new music up here. I'm now living in Manchester but still do quite a few gigs in the South West. It's good to see that there is still a "scene" and lots of good bands around. Looking forward to the next time I'm down... By the way, I know the beeb doesn't allow outgoing links, but google Tom Kerswill if you'd like to hear some new tunes!
REPLY: Ah but we do, Tom... save your Googling, there's a link to Tom's website on his page here on the 大象传媒 Devon website (as there is for most of the devon demos featured) and you'll be taken there. Good to hear from you and that you're doing well, John (Host)

Phil from Devon
Rob, just writing to say i hope your gig on the 15th at The jolly farmer goes great. i'll see you there.

Si
Kris Barras from who'z in the room with norman is one SICK guitarist!! He is awesome, the next big guitarist of our time no doubt!

Charley, Dawlish, again!!!
Zenn, moved me to tears. So beautifully numbing and haunting and just...amazing.

Charley from Dawlish
Jodie that demo was so beautiful. You have a rae talent, a stunning voice.

T. from Teign
Message to Rob Swann : I am ur biggest fan and I'll be at Jolly Farmer on sunday night. Pls, pls, pls play 'Dude in the street' and 'Bullied' for me as they are the best songs I've ever heard. We are all really up for it Rob

Peter.Bristol.
Bow Jenkins rocks, seriously! Anyone with that voice can sing to me forever. Just read some of the other comments... john of Plymouth, man you're bitter! why do peopel like you bother? You just trashed everyone!!! Sad. I think you gotta know that what you're saying means nothin unless it is constructive. And all the people springing to Astra's defence... I don't read anywhere where anyone put her talent or voice down, just the act of paying for promotion. I got the vibe that people were on her side! So be calm devonians!

Jo, Devon
I gather 'Astra Dolphin' has a lot going on for her at the moment... Radio Devon Please get Astra to play live on the radio as I'd like to hear more from this unique very interesting talent. Any one else agree...???

Sandy, Alberta, Canada
Isaac from Toronto - if you go to jodiejones.com and click on the american flag it'll take you to the international website where you can buy Jodie Jones's debut album and get it shipped internationally for a really good price! The album is very very good, well worth it.

John from Plymouth
Just downloaded the boxing day show which I thought was interesting. Dan Church I think is good but I got the feeling that the song was written in the production room and the 'rawness' of an unsigned act is missing. The grand old men from the street will never compete with Mcfly but are very capable musicians and I feel that they will get where they want to be, I was entertained by their clip.Astra I feel has something special although I did not like this version as much as the original again maybe its the rawness that does it for me.I feel that she stands a realistic chance of getting somewhere. Miss Bow Jenkins for me sings dreadfully flat, the music, the lyric, the production is good but her singing is not up to her strength as a writer. Finally Kris ; this song is better than your previous offering as you are playing more to your strengths. It has a guitar solo. It has the feel of a live recording which delivers its punch perfectly. On the whole a very worthwhile event and I hope we don't have to wait till next xmas to have other acts showcased in this way.

Isaac from Toronto,Canada
I really enjoy listening to It's like love written by Jodie Jones. Very sweet voice, very pure. The lyrics are honest. This track should be on a movie sound track. Keep up the fantastic work and hope to hear more from you in the future!! Oh yeah when is your Canadian Debut?

Chris, Exeter
Hey, surely are we not forgetting one thing - the music that these artists/bands are making? I mean good luck to Astra Dolphin in her music deal, everyone is entitled to their opinion which is fine,I am sure Astra knows what shes doing, if it's working for her then great. To me she has a very unusal style and voice!

Karen
Hi there, This Astra Dolphin debate is quite interesting... I thought Astra sounded well, seemed to me to be cool with all thats going on for her at the moment. I really enjoyed listening to her song a very different refreshing sound and style of writing. Can I also say when you are a struggling musician or actress you do take up other jobs to help finance yourself even if you have just had a big earner! I hope all turns out OK for her and all the other acts featured on the Devon demos show.

Micky. Moretonhampstead
I loved the unsigned show, and also thought Bow Jenkins was the big news. let's have more! I also agree with Tom when he mentions a sadness about what Astra Dolphin was saying, that's not to say she was sad because she sounded cool and happy and pleased to be where she is, and that's good... but... No-one should pay to be signed. It's like vanity publishing, you pay to go into a compilation, and get your mates to buy it. Anyone and I mean anyone has to avoid paying upfront to other people to sign or promote or manage you. If you're good, they'll work for a cut of your future earnings. I think that was Toms point, and it's definately mine!

Jamie, Devon.
hi would just like to say that i think who'z in the room with norman? are fantastic. The guitarist Kriss Barras is amazing and any SERIOUS guitarists should definately check out his website and also his colum in awesome guitar mag 'play'! He's a top guy and sure to go extemely far in his career. Best of luck Kris, p.s you rocked at Birmingham NEC!

Ian, Devon
To Tom in Exeter(Comment on previous page). What I think Astra Dolphin has done is perhaps signed a contract where you the 'artist' invest in the company and they invest in you. The artist then receives a large percentage of roylaties on single, album and merchandise sales and tour when enough interest has been generated. Theses kind of deals do exist. I don't see what is wrong with it. As to get noticed and taken seriously within the music industry you need backing from people in the know. Best of luck to Astra Dolphin and I hope you acheive your goals.

Kait , Bovey Tracey
Hi again I have just bought all three of Astra's albums. You can purchase them from her website like me if you are also a fan of Astra Dolphin. You can also purchase her merchandise.

Will, Devon
yo, dudes! Well done to all the acts featured on the show! Rock on, guys, and good luck! Peace out! P.s i loved Astra she rocked! but still, keep tryin all da rest of you singers tryin' to make it out in this terrible world.

Kait , Bovey Tracey
Tom from Exeter, i dont know what your talking about! Astra has auditioned for many events and never quite made it. i know this because i have seen her perform in some private gigs. Now that she has signed a deal i would think she was doing pretty well! Dog walking, cleaning and child minding are jobs to keep her going until she has invested enough money to eneter bigger events for more publicity e.g to secure a tour. I was listening to her interview and did not find it, what so ever, 'heartbreaking'! It was a funny, mature interview and i would like to hear more of her work. But im sure she will be thankful for your construstive critisism. I do agree with you on one thing though, she has a good, unique, 'now' voice. ----x----

Tom from Exeter
Nigel, I wasn't putting Astra down! She seems like she's worked really hard and has an interesting and good voice! But I thought that the fact that she's paid a company to sign her (which in my opinion means she isn't signed in real terms - no one gave her a fortune and has told her to do an album and go on tour), and that she's 26, trying to make it but is forced to spend her days as a cleaner and dog walker... (and I'm not saying they're bad jobs - i'm saying that it's not what she really wants to be doing). Surely anyone can see the heartbreak in that?! I wasn't being disrespectful... I just honestly didn't see any parts of her interview that were 'amusing' as other people have said... If you find her story amusing you're not really listening to her story...

Nigel, Torquay
Wow, Tom from Exeter I Don't agree with your comments about Astra Dolphin, she has worked damn hard to get to where she is. Astra to me was the most impressive of all. I'm sure she seeked legal advice before signing anything, coz she ain't stupid. Best of luck to her.

Tom, Paignton
I thought Astra Dolphin sounded great on the Devon Demos show, she had such a very different style and sound. Best of luck to all the acts featured.
