Concert Information

Join the ´óÏó´«Ã½ Symphony Orchestra and conductor Markus Stenz for an afternoon of music by Weber, Wagner, Hindemith and Poul Ruders at the ´óÏó´«Ã½ Maida Vale Studios.

At the heart of the concert is a performance of Weber’s explosively virtuosic First Clarinet Concerto by ´óÏó´«Ã½ New Generation artist Annelien Van Wauwe, prefaced by Danish composer Poul Ruders’ homage to Sibelius in his short orchestral piece Tundra.

During the second half of the concert, we hear music enjoyed at both concert hall and opera house: Wagner’s Prelude from his romantic opera Lohengrin and Hindemith’s Matthias the Painter Symphony. Comprising music from Hindemith’s opera of the same name, each movement draws inspiration from the sixteenth century tableaus of the elaborate Isenheim Altarpiece by artist Matthias Grünewald.

This concert is recorded for future broadcast on ´óÏó´«Ã½ Radio 3’s Afternoon on 3.

Admission is on a first-come, first-served basis. Please note that as not everyone who asks for tickets uses them, to make sure we have a full house we send out more tickets than there are places. We do our best to get the numbers right, but unfortunately we occasionally have to disappoint people so please arrive early.
