About This Event

Violinist Nicola Benedetti joins the 大象传媒 Symphony Orchestra and Chief Conductor Sakari Oramo for Elgar鈥檚 Violin Concerto 鈥� a work in which bravura technique and dazzling display meet confessional intimacy, one the composer himself described as 鈥榯oo emotional鈥�. The concerto is paired with Dvo艡谩k鈥檚 Seventh Symphony, whose brooding opening movement and elegiac Adagio grew out of recent tragedy 鈥� the loss of the composer鈥檚 mother and the mental collapse of his friend and colleague Smetana.
