With their first London gig proving so popular they had to turn hundreds away, the four piece led by Justin Young cause mass hysteria from fans and critics alike. Later… with Jools Holland booked them before they had released a single, a privilege only previously bestowed on Adele and Corinne Bailey Rae. Our very own Zane Lowe named You Tube demo If You Wanna his hottest record claiming it an ‘instant vintage classic’ and their raw, compelling sound gained them the coveted third place in Sound of 2011.
Drawing comparisons with The Ramones, Arctic Monkeys and The Strokes but still unashamedly creating pop music, the west Londoners have a busy summer ahead with the release of their next album and performing with The Stone Roses in Manchester. However it’s on the Hackney Marshes that we eagerly expect very great things from The Vaccines.
