Context

Rough prototypes allow you to test quickly and cheaply. Getting your ideas in front of users early will give you feedback without too much investment.

Overview

Rough prototyping can be paper, cardboard, or lo-fi digital sketches. They are just enough to test your idea. You will be surprised by how much you can learn.

How-to

  1. Decide what you want to learn about your idea.
  2. Explore ways to test and identify who to test with.
  3. Use cardboard, paper, post-it notes or even string and sticky tape to create a prototype.
  4. Test with real people (not designers, they are not real).
  5. Review results.
  6. Iterate or scrap the idea.
