Here we turn the spotlight on archer Larry Godfrey who competes for Gloucestershire. He faces a few quirky questions...
If money was no object, what would be the first thing you would buy?As island…and go live on it. Who is your sport's best pundit?Eddie Butler did Athens so I'll say Eddie Butler.
Help playing audio/video Can you explain cricket? There's a bat and a ball and you just whack it as hard as you can don't you? Larry Godfrey What's been your worst fashion crime?Peroxide hair, which I've got now. Who has the flashiest motor at the club? Not trying to sound big-headed, but yeah it's me. Which charity do you support?A children's charity, because I think they're the future. What's your favourite biscuit?±á´Ç²ú²Ô´Ç²ú…c³ó´Ç³¦´Ç±ô²¹³Ù±ð. Who is the most famous person with your christian name?It has got to be Laurence Olivier. Can you play a musical instrument?I come from a very musical background. I can play a little bit of piano, guitar, trumpet, French horn, recorder…I've dabbled with everything! If you could be in a band, which one would you choose?AC/DC – definitely makes my blood get going, if you know what I mean. What is your nickname at the club and how did it come about?I've got loads. I can't say a couple. 'Sid' stuck with me for a while when I was a junior, but I still don't know to this day how the club managed to name me that. 'Leon' was when somebody got my name wrong in a magazine and that stuck for ages. People are saying Kevin Pieterson at the moment but that's just the hair. It's normally 'Lazzo' or 'Lar', things like that really. What was the last book you read?Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. The books make me, sort of, escape life and be a little kid again – it's brilliant. Has your sport ever brought you to tears? Many a time – good and bad. It's a very emotional sport. If there was one rule or law you could change in archery, what would it be?So many rules about your shirt not being tucked in or your collar not big enough and you're not allowed this or that sponsor on. Archery's a minority sport, in terms of the big league, and we're so grateful for all the help we do get and we'd like the sport to chill out a bit and get more women in short skirts out on the field - that might give it a bit more publicity! What's the most common mistake you see people making in your sport?Trying too hard. The one thing in archery is that you've just got to relax and even when it's going well you've got to stay relaxed and not try too hard. That's one of the mistakes I commonly make, just to try too hard. You have to find that balance where you don't switch off but you let the body and let the training do all the work. Where in the world is the best night out?Bristol. The ´óÏó´«Ã½ is not responsible for the content of external websites last updated: 08/10/2008 at 09:49 Have Your SaySend Larry a message here...
