Here we turn the spotlight on Gold-medalist Peter Reed, a rower from Nailsworth. He faces a few quirky questions...
What is the regatta you remember watching? The Seville World Championships in 2002. I remember watching Matt and James break the World Record there. I started rowing in lakes in 2001 so that was the next rowing championship on after that. Before then I hadn't really got into rowing. Who is your sport's best pundit?Probably Dan Topolski. What more can I say? Legend!
Help playing audio/video Can you explain cricket? It's like baseball, but British. Peter Reed (Getty image) If money was no object, what would be the first thing you would buy?A Bugatti Veyron for me and a Ferrari F430 for my girlfriend. Which charity do you support?I support the London Youth Rowing organisation and I think I want to support one more but I need to decide that after the Olympics. What's your favourite biscuit?I don't know the name of them, but they're those really nice ones that you get with thick chocolate on the top and biscuit on the bottom. The chocolate sort of overhangs the edge of the biscuit. You know the ones? Who is the most famous person with your christian name?Peter Reid, the football manager. Can you play a musical instrument?I play the piano and the guitar - probably playing the piano better than the guitar. I've played both since I was very young but on and off so I'm not particularly good and I play by ear, so I'm self-taught. If you could be in a band, which one would you choose? At the moment, Coldplay. Their recent album is awesome and I think they're all really talented. Peter Reed Which two of your team mates would you want with you on a quiz team?Josh West and Acer Nethercott. Acer has a PhD from Oxford, Josh has a PhD from Cambridge and I think between them they can cover most subjects and what they can't cover is probably about iPods and I can do that. What was the last book you read?It was 'The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time' - quite a nice book about an autistic kid. If there was one rule (in rowing) or law you could change what would it be?There's a contraption on the start of some courses which holds all of the bow balls in a certain line. Some courses don't have them which means the bow ball might be a few inches ahead or behind the other lines. It's only subtle but when you can win or lose a race by a hundredth of a second I'd quite like to have an even playing field. Where in the world is the best night out?I really really like a restaurant in Chiswick. They don't sponsor me so this isn't a plug, but it's awesome. The food, every time I've been, has been perfect.
