During the war my sister and I were staying with an aunt and uncle in Faversham. He was a fireman and one weekend he was stationed on fire watch at the White-House in Minster on the Isle of Sheppey. We were allowed to go with him for the weekend and we slept on the floor under the counter. We thought that was very exciting.
My dad was an officer at Eastchurch Aerodrome. When it was bombed he was buried under a sink for five hours, and he survived to tell the tale.
