When asked about her recollections of V-E Day, my mother's response was somewhat terse
'We were as usual working in Pay and Accounts, doing the wages for the American Squadron based at the airfield. An LAC put his head round the door and shouted 'The Wars over'
'Oh'
We went back to working out the wages.'

My mother Audrey Marande (nee Leeding) was at the time serving as a WAAF at RAF Colerne near Bath.
