I was 8 years old when the war broke out. My first memory of the war was when the 1941 Blitz occurred. Everybody ran for the hills. The only thing that was left behind was the budgie. When we came back, the budgie was still whistling. Everybody had to get out. You couldn鈥檛 take any chances. It was absolutely terrible. Very tragic!
