My second memory is of the Germans landing and marching down the High Street and making all their clatter with their boots. Standing and watching what鈥檚 going on, children鈥檚 curiosity, really. But life seemed to go on very much the same as far as I was concerned. I think, you know, we carried on. My mother and father had to carry on cleaning the Bank, which I used to help with. Life went on, we went to town, we did our shopping, the Germans were walking round but it didn鈥檛 make any difference, they didn鈥檛 bother me in particular.
