My lasting memory of world war 2 is I was evacuated in 1939 To Lowick Near Ulvaston. I lasted five days in which I had three homes. The first was a farm where she said she wanted 14 years old not 7 year olds to work on the farm. I then went to the head mistress's home till they found some where else.
My lasting memory of world war 2 is the memorial was blown to pieces, all the children in the shelters were cheering, we thought we would not have to got tp school again three days later i was off again to Silverdale to stand in a church hall waiting to be picked out, I was away 10 months and was treated well though its not the same as being with your mum. No one ever thinks about the people who took us in, (how would you like two kids dumped on you in your fifties, 8 year old ones.
