This story was told to Miles by his Grandad who was in the army during the war.
IT WAS THE FIRST DAY OF THE INVASION AND THE MEN HAD COME OFF THE BEACHES AND THEY WERE HEADING INLAND TO THEIR OBJECTIVE,WHICH WAS TO CAPTURE A SMALL COASTAL TOWN. AS THEY WERE HEADING IN TO THE TOWN THEY CAME UNDER HEAVY GUN FIRE BY MACHINE GUN POSTS AND GERMANS WERE THROWING GRENADES AT THE INCOMING BRITISH TROOPS, MY GRANDAD TURNED ROUND TO SEE THAT TWO GERMANS WERE STANDING ON A BALCONY SHOOTING AT HIM AND HIS FELLOW COMRADES, HE SHOT THEM WITHOUT HESITATING,THE MEN FELL AND MY GRANDAD STOLE THEIR WEAPONS. AFTER THAT THEY CARRIED ON WITH THEIR OBJECTIVE.
