I was born on 5 December 1920 in the village as it was then of Longridge, and i married Jack in 1942. Six months later he was called up for service, and i never saw him again for 3 solid years...he eventually came home for one week and hardly stopped crying the whole time as he had been station in London, removing bodies from the Blitz. After his one week leave, he left again for overseas, and i never saw him again for 18 months!

Not a very nice start to our marriage.
