When I was a telegram boy, we delivered all of our telegrams on foot as our area was densely populated; for example: we were timed out and in by our office — with a maximum delivery time of 22 minutes from our office to the farthest point- which was ‘Number 1 London’ which is the house of the Duke of Wellington, and it’s situated on Hyde Park corner.
At the time, just by coincidence we didn’t have a Hilton Hotel — the Hilton Hotel was just a block of houses between the Dorchester Hotel and Hertford Street; and by coincidence - one side of the road is a house known as ‘Londonderry House’ - which is a famous house.
