My lasting Memory of World War II is…of my mum talking about her evacuation to Knott End, Fleetwood, where she was placed with a lovely family who has a little girl the same age as my mum and the same name — Joyce. For this period, my mum was known as Doreen. Many times, she spoke of hoe nice the family were to her and she got many goodies there, which she would have not got at home.
