Nottingham, joined 276 HY A.A. BTY R.A. On to Southend for tropical kit. One week Christmas leave (the one and only for the whole war)

To Liverpool, embarked on S.S. Northumberland. Missed convoy. Up Clyde to Greenock, 4 days Pollock Camp, Glasgow. Re-embarked S.S. Northumberland 鈥 joined convoy 鈥 Cruiser Birmingham + 3 destroyers
March 鈥 April 1941
Called at Freetown 鈥 Sierra Leone, West Africa. Disembarked Durban, South Africa 鈥 4 days Clarewood Camp. Re-embarked on the troop ship City of Canterbury
April 鈥 May 1941
North to Red Sea. Ship broke down in Red Sea off Eritrea (convoy proceeded without us). Arrived Suez 鈥 through canal to Port Said. Disembarked 鈥 cattle trucks to Tahag Camp
July 1941
In action, static gun site at Canopus Point west of Alexandria. Mobile site Suez. Trip to Palestine 鈥 taking 3.7 guns to the Australians
August 1941
Battery re-equipped with 3.7 guns. Transport GL equipment (radar) 鈥渦p the blue鈥 (NAT 鈥 15cwt Morris truck with Bren gun 鈥 Tommy Smith)

To Mischefa via Mersa Matruh and Sollum Pass. 30 miles in desert from coast 鈥 railhead 鈥 Christmas 1941. Despatch driver

Fort Capuzzo 鈥 Gambut 鈥 Bardia 鈥 Tobruk. Hospital at Tel-el-Kebir. Evacuated to Palestine to hospital in Tel Aviv by train across Sinai

Back to Almaza base depot, Cairo. After 2 months posted 105 A.A. Def H.Q 鈥 Zamalek. Was there until the end of the war in Europe
