We are four volunteers, Dave, Linda, Martin and Tom, from the Kidderminster area, working in the College library, during the month of October for the Worcestershire Wartime Wednesdays. We have a wonderful display of WW2 artifacts, and original newspaper from that era.
The attendance from people, who lived and worked during WW2 has been very good, we have had some very interesting stories passed on to our team, both tragic and humorous, we have been very surprised with ordinary people's strength and courage which developed naturally, during the defence of our Country.
The stories are collected, by word of mouth, written, or taped and once collated are submitted to the WW2 Peoples War web page, to be held as a permanent record of their memories.
Since our activities in October we have been busy collecting more stories from local people. Word of mouth seems to be working and we have had stories sent in from friends of the people we interviewed during Worcestershire Wartime Wednesdays. We helped at the ´óÏó´«Ã½ 'Who do you think you are' Roadshow on 4th December. It was a busy day and I think we made a lot more people aware of the website and the need to collect memories. In the new year we are going to try and attend some local lunch clubs and social clubs for pensioners.
