I stayed in London during the Blitz and saw the city bombed out. I used to get sugar from the black market and when our house was bombed it was covered in sugar. I worked in the shoe industry and created shoes for Queen Mary, during the war I did peace-work and continued to work within the shoe industry. I created army boots during the war and was paid for the number I produced, I did quite well out of it. I am now ninety-five years old.
