Air Raid Precautions Certificate 28.3.39

I was a primary school teacher and lived in Seaham Harbour with my father who was in the Home Guard.
I did fire watching during the war.I was given some training on what to do and then on set nights we had to go to a nearby school and be on guard all night long. If there was a raid you were told to throw yourself to the ground and use a fire extinguisher to put out the fire. Usually 3 people were on guard at one time.
