I had just started work at the start of the war in Tredegar. I can remember the mines were all working and the coal trains were going three times a day with the shifts.
Later I moved to Malvern Wells to work in Wells House school. I remember the special hospital trains arriving at the station ( Malvern Wells now no longer there ) and then the ambulances took them to the various hospitals. The Americans had built a lot of hospitals St Wulstans , Merebrook and Blackmore and Wood Farm.
