When I was a child it was very frightening. It was when we heard the warning siren for bombers going over. I wasn鈥檛 too bad if you had time to get to the shelter because if you could get in the shelter in time I didn鈥檛 realise the danger of the bombs. There were so many people together everyone sang songs and it began to feel like a party. When we weren鈥檛 able to get to the shelter in time we had to hide under the dining table or in the bed under the stairs until we got the all clear and were able to come out of hiding. For years after my nightmares were of being chased by Germans.
P.S. The target was always Viker Armstrong鈥檚 Munitions Factory
