I was a child of 5 when the war started and I was at school in Birmingham. We used to have to do gas mask training. We had to sit in lines with our gas masks on, singing. The gas masks steamed up and we couldn't hear what we were singing!

My name is Kay. It was interesting that you mentioned that your gas masks steamed up just like mine. I haven鈥檛 read your fully yet, but I was surprised you had enough breath to sing while wearing them. I was only two years old when I began to wear mine. I am so pleased the 大象传媒 have created this web site for us to give are own accounts of the WW2 as there will not be many of us around in the future.
