The Severn Valley Railway is now nationally known as a major heritage steam railway. It operates for sixteen miles along the beautiful Severn Valley between Kidderminster in Worcestershire and Bridgnorth in Shropshire.
Although the line was opened in the 1860's the advent of the motor lorry in the 1930's spelt disaster for freight traditionally carried along the line.
The movement of troops and equipment during World War II gave reprieve to the line in the 1940's but the arrival of the motor car in the 1950's proved its final downfall.
Now in its 40th Anniversary Year, The Severn Valley Railway is happy to be involved in the WW2 Peoples War project.
We hope that you will enjoy contributing your wartime experiences connected with railways and trains. They do not need to be specifically related to the Severn Valley line but if they are, so much the better.
