I was three when Wolverhampton's only bomb fell It was aimed at the Royal School but missed, falling a mile away near to my aunt's house, shattering the windows of all the local houses.
Whenever we went down into the school shelter, we would be given a Horlicks tablet - a bonus! I learned to knit whilst sitting under the stairs.
At the end of the war, all the mothers were waitng for us outside our school, waving flags. My mother, along with neighbours, helped to arrange a party for all the local children to celebrate.
