My lasting Memory of World War II is鈥eing evacuated from Salford to Aston in Furness. Didn鈥檛 know where we were going my sister aged 5 years cried all the way. My boyfriend leaving to serve in the Navy and I didn鈥檛 see him for 4 years.

Hello Mrs Miller,

Was it perhaps Askham in Furness you were evacuated to? In WW2 it was part of Lancashire, but it is now a part of Cumbria.

It must have been a big change leaving Salford at a young age? Do you have fond memories of this period?

I trust whoever wrote your story down passes the message on to you. Unfortunately they haven't given their name. Never mind. Thanks to them as well.
