RAF Squadron 1, Flight A, Squad 3. Blackpool, November 1940
Sgt George E Foulger, my late grandfather is in the top row, fourth from the right.
I found this photograph with the other photograph I published of George. There appears to be a football at their feet. Judging by the date, this photograph would have been taken fairly soon after The Battle of Britain. I was aware that Squadron 1 was a frontline fighter squadron and according to the MOD RAF Web site, they were flying Hurricanes during this time. I hadn鈥檛 realised until now that my grandfather had been part of a frontline fighter squadron. He was part of the ground crew and I believe he worked on the airframes.
The caption for this photograph is exactly what has been written on the back of it, presumably by my grandfather himself.
I have written in greater detail about him and his experiences in a separate document (A6006818). George Foulger died in 1992 in Canterbury, Kent, UK.
