Written by Kevin J Foulger.
My late grandfather, George E Foulger told me many stories about World War 2. He died in 1992 in Canterbury, Kent, UK, but as I remembered him telling me about the war I thought I would add his stories. His wife was the late Kathleen Foulger.
George and his mother were no strangers to action. During the air raids of the First World War, His mother, Charlotte Foulger (maiden name, Parish) used to walk the streets. As I remember her saying, 鈥淚 had George as a baby and used to walk the streets.鈥 I was under the impression from the conversation with Charlotte that there were no air raid shelters. On one occasion, Charlotte saw a Zeppelin brought down over Norwood, London. George鈥檚 father, Harry Foulger worked on the railways as a clerk. Both survived the two world wars.

In the story War Brings Early Marriage by Kay Foulger (mentioned above) my mother's father (William Tom Sparkes) was based at RAF Shawbury, as was my father's father (George E Foulger). We think that they were both based at Shawbury at the same time.
